I'm interested in volunteering at a radio station, in any capacity and wondered if this is something I could do, and how I should approach it. Email, call, go and visit? I don't speak german and realise this is a huge prerequisite but I did say any capacity...
A relative of mine does this in australia and I realised when she was telling me about it that I'd love to do it too. The difference is she volunteers for an english speaking radio station in an English speaking country which is obviously different to my situation.
maybe there is an English speaking show that needs a helping hand with something? Or... I dunno, tell her she's dreamin'.
This English language radio station was until about a year ago, available on FM-VHF, & transmitted by Swiss national radio service, but the Swiss saved some money and switched the FM-VHF channel off. They still broadcast DAB and you might pick it up on a DAB radio in Basel, or of course on Internet.
I was the GM for a community (not for profit) radio station in Australia in a past life. We were always seeking volunteers for a variety of duties, including hosting on-air sessions. When I worked for commercial radio stations though, we only took on paid professional staff. (any blip on air can cost ratings and advertising revenue)
I have no knowledge of how the industry works in Switzerland so don't have anything useful to share for entry ideas.
But if you're serious about this, and want to prove yourself to a potential employer, you could set up your own streaming service and create your own station to start with? There are loads of radio stations available via the internet. Or if that's too techie, start building up "albums" of work on a medium like YouTube?
Hi! Could I know what do you exactly like about the radio? Because I am a student at USI and we have a board game association located there. I would like to make you tube videos to promote game from our association and maybe you could help us out if it's a kind of activity that you like (I am not sure if I was clear or if this is something that you like, but anyway if you have questions feel free to ask me )
