Volunteering opportunities in Lausanne

Hi there,

I am here in Switzerland staying with my Swiss boyfreind and looking for a job, but would love to do some volunteer work in Lausanne in the meantime - to keep busy etc.

Does anyone have any ideas? (I don't really want to look after children but anything else would be great...)

Hi,

Don't know about Lausanne but try this outfit in Geneva www. icvolunteers .org. Worked with them once and are a load of fun.

One thing I can think of is the thrift store (second hand items) run by the salvation army. I believe that most of the people working in there are volunteers, and they'd probably welcome more help. It is at Rue de la Borde 24, just up from Place du Tunnel.

The Vaudois Volunteer Association is only somewhat helpful. The lady there has an old list of charities who need help, including the thrift shops, from which she prints you something like a letter of introduction. The volunteer is expected to contact and organize his own work. It's good to visit (must have an appointment), but one will be calling different organizations on his own any way.
