A deal that is I went to AMAG (Brugg) and ASAG (Basel) ostensibly for test drives, but also to price up a vehicle and both of them steadfastly refused to budge on price, not a rappen off and no extras, servicing, extra warranty... nada. They were quoting me exactly the same price as if I were speccing it up myself on t'internet.
So if anyone has a dealer they can recommend and who are willing to offer more than a cup of coffee... I'm all ears.
Are you paying cash..? That'll get you a discount up front. How about the company you or the misses work for, do they have a Flottenrabatt (fleet rebate) available for employees..?
My VW was the dealer's loaner car and had 10,000km on the clock. New price was just over 23,000.-chf. but I paid 13,300.-chf. for it. It's now 6 years old with 135,000km and still going strong!
Actually they did deduct something like 5% when I mentioned my company and I was given a form for validation, but I'm not really counting that
No, its for a new car. Unfortunately the Golf mk6 hasn't been around long enough to make a dent on used car prices so any recommendations would be welcome, thanks.
I found out recently that even when a company has fleet discount not all dealers will offer it - and according to my HR dept they are not obliged to which is a bit daft really.
Two VW dealers in Zurich also quoted published prices and said their leasing deal made the difference. Hmm. Bollocks.
I recently got a new VW Beetle from Amag Uster. I got a good discount as i had a discount letter from my bank. Might be worth giving them a try maybe you could do a deal there.
I can't tell you about a Golf Mk6, but Hans Kuhn the VW/Audi/Porsche dealer in Thalwil gave me 10% of a Mk4 Golf in 2001. This was for nothing more than asking what discount he could give me. No talk of cash or any company.
Autorama in Wetzikon gave me 5.4% of the new Polo this year. It's not a great amount, but it was offered in response to the question 'what discount do you give' and the Polo had 5 months' delivery, so they weren't pushed to sell....
Quite remarkable - given the collapse in the Euro. If you can I would suggest waiting until later this year when the next round of banking sch&^%$ hits the fan and another load of bankers are made redundant. Eventually the economic reality will come back to Switzerland I guess. I live in hope of one day experiencing a sales situation in Switzerland where I am actually sold to and a deal is there to be made
An OT aside- this week I have been negotiating retail purchases over the internet with UK based suppliers and it is most noticeable how far they are willing to go, especially compared with a couple of years ago when it was all they could do to return an email within a week. Now they're positively biting my hand off for relatively small transactions.
My bother's Alfa brera has been in the shop for at least 3 months over the last year. Currently it's had a new exhaust, top engine, wiring loom, 2 aircon compressors, boot, front seats, one catalytic converter and one DPF all replaced under warranty. He's just selling it to have a VW instead!!
I did good with AMAG of Kloten. PM me and I will send you details of my guy there. my colleague from work and I both bought cars from them for good discount.
I think we should be told. I've a thing for the Alfa grill: it reminds me of something I just can't put my finger on, but it looks great in a rear view mirror...
