So I am basically just looking for advice or feedback about wakeboarding in Zurich.
Before we start, yes I have seen this thread, but seeing as it has been a few years since it was active and my questions are more specific I thought I would start a new one.
I have been wakeboarding many years ago (6 roughly) and was looking to take it up again.
I have noticed there seem to be a good few places that do it around zurich but I was wondering if any people have some feed back or other places that I have forgotton.
seem like the same as above only you can get a (small) discount if you book the boat for a couple of hours (non consecutive) at once. They are a bit far down the lake though if you live in Zurich. price for 1 hour CHF 190
These guys seem the most interesting as you can just go for 1 session, and just sign up with some other people. they offer a price per person, not per hour and this is half price if you sign up for the year membership.
Otherwise they offer packages of lessons. These seem really cool, but the classes are not very frequent, and you can only register for early or late in the season.
They are located pretty close to the centre, which is a plus
Also I am looking at buying some new bindings for my board. anyone have any tips for shops.
I have considered the same thing - so I'll keep an eye on your post thread here.
I have looked at this club: http://www.wsc-cham.ch/ but thats only how far I have got. I have not yet asked for their membership-prices.
(We have a surf/snow-shop here in Cham. I don't know if they are any good with wakeboard - but I can stop by and ask, if you are looking for something specific: http://www.surf-city.ch ).
Some people I know simply buy a share in a boat, use if for a few years until they leave Switzerland again and sell it to the next incoming expat. I know of 2 "boatshares".
Sharing a boat sounds like a good plan. I have a boat back home used for wakeboarding but I thought it was way too much trouble to bring it to CH (paperwork, license, ensurance and not least a place to have the trailer/boat parked).
I have a (EU) license for sailing both powerboat and sailboat but is it also valid here in CH?
If you're going to go a lot, wakeandski have an option to pay CHF 500 and you get a bunch of sessions. After that they cost only around CHF 35 per session.
They also have an online system so you can reserve and book via mobile phone spontaneously and short notice.
Been a few times, mostly wake surfing. Really nice people.
I tried to book with wake and ski but they had no space.
Over all the session was okay.
Firstly I would like to point we accidentally found the wrong address on the website so ended up at the wrong place down by tiefenbrunnen. they had mentioned they were across from restaurant verscattii, but since I just copied and pasted from the website we ended up a bit lost.
They called us though and after we explained where we were he boat came and picked us up, but of course I think this cut into our hour of time we had booked.
Otherwise the driver/instructor was nice. As someone who had done some wakeboarding before I would have liked a some direction. however maybe I should have asked for it, cause all she kept asking me was if the speed was okay for me.
my 2 friends had never wakeboarded before, and unfortunatly when my last friend went in the water she only got 3 tries/tows (literally) before we had to go back. She did some basic instructions with them which mainly involved pulling them up from sitting position to let them get a feel for what it is like letting the boat pull you up.
We had some friends who said they were going to watch from the shore, but when we asked the woman driving the boat said we had rented the boat for the hour and that the price was the same, so they came on board too. We were 6 people in the boat total.
however when we paid it was 220 CHF not 180 CHF, I suppose that was marked on the website that the extra people in the boat cost more but then I was confused as the driver said it was the same. Either way I just paid and did not make a fuss
Just as a side note, how long does it take to acquire a motor boat european motorboat liscence? In addition is it quicker/easier to get in the UK than in Switzerland?
In Denmark you can take it in just one day. However the thing is a joke. You should spend more time and actually get some quality knowledge about sailing power-boats.
However - I am not sure if an EU certificate is valid in CH! Anyone who knows?
I also have EU-license to sailboats but I don't think that is usable here
I took a 5 or 6 slots course last year at wake and ski. We had a good time, friendly people. But not really good instruction more some average wakeboarding dude driving the boat. If we wanted instructions you should really ask for specific advise.
We took the course starting in April when the water was still terrebly cold.. Somewhere around 12 degrees celcius. Wouldn't reccomend that
Any news about best value for money wakeboarding options on the Zürisee? Today I went to Pfullendorf (Germany). It was very crowded - although I liked the water park.
I read about buying shares in boats in Zürich. I thought about it before but never really searched for it. I'm going to give a try. So far I've been trying to make friends who have boats but I have not been successful at all... ;-(.
PS: any news about the validity of an EU boat license on the Zürisee? I do have one EU boat driving license as well.
I also suggest Pfullendorf. It's only about 110km from Zurich and the lake is a very nice and family friendly place. Usually the lift is very crowded but it's possible to book the lift there for 180E/hour or 280E/2 hours. Then you have the lift for yourself and you can share it with as many people as you want. Is anyone interested in booking the lift this month? I've just checked that there are still some free slots available: http://www.wasserskipark-pfullendorf...bahnmiete.html so maybe we could organize a group of 10 or more?
I could be interested in joining (depending on date) - and my gf also. So 2 persons. We have car that can take 5 people incl. boards etc. We drive from Cham/Zug.
I just got back from a vacation in Quinten on Wallensee. Beautiful and long glass calm lake (except in the evening). I saw a few wakeboarders when I was there come out of Murg. I think it was this place: http://www.shirocco.ch/index.cfm/sports/wakeboard/
Great, thank you for sharing. I do not speak German enough and did not understand this by the time I went on. Overall, anytime on Sat./Sun. is good for me.
Great. I would really be interested in joining. PS : I do not have a car at the moment but will have one soon.
Only problem to me is that this is still a bit too expensive.
Regards,
F (I am based in Zürich city center but am easily mobile for meeting up)
Would love to join in for Pfullendorf DE or a session on the lake.
Been there two times- once on a Saturday afternoon (it was beyond packed) and once early in the evening on a Sunday (way better). Facilities are great - vibe feels like a mini-vacation. It's about a 1.5h drive from Downtown Zurich.
How should we do? I would suggest creating a doodle in order to keep us posted about good dates for all of us (or a maximum of us). Have done it so here .
awesome, just completed that form. i'll be out tomorrow for a trip to frankfurt and traveling for the next weekends as well but saturday 31-aug/sunday 1-sep i could easily borrow a car and take two addl. people + boards up there. let me know if that fits your schedule. would be awesome.
