Wall folding beds!!?

Anyone where i can grab on of these in Switzerland, been searching for 2 hours & got no clue yet, i really don't wanna import all the way from Spain or the UK

Any help would be appreciated

Sorry, most of the "folding" beds I've seen here are of the convertible sofa variety.

Try searching for "Murphy Bed"? There may also be DIY instructions or even kits if you can't find a source to get the whole thing pre-made.

I were actually considering the "Murphy Bed DIY" kit, but then i'm looking for the right bed frame to fit them on it.

Can't help directly, but what about taking a photo to a (big) shop and asking?

It is possible that they don't have them on display - but they do exist as we've used them in ski resorts.

They might give you the correct terms to use, which would in turn help you to search the internet more fully.

a quick look on google with armoire-lit give me this site

http://www.relax-meubles.ch/ they have a shop in Geneva

Thanks alot Bertrand, that's exactly what i were looking for, do you have any idea where are they located in Geneva?

They are at Meyrin, Commercial center of Champs-Fréchets.

There's a map on their website.

Ah, thanks...i just checked the contact page earlier.

Recently, two English ladies holidaying in Spain (think it was Barcelona, but not quite sure), died when one of these beds folded upon them whilst they were sleeping. It was five days before their bodies were found.

So my advice would be to get a good quality one.

Thanks for the advice, actually this is what i'm really looking for, a good quality one with proper mechanism & being able to fix them on the wall.

They are quite expensive in Switzerland- Pfister sells them (must be ordered). Otherwise if you are handy with tools- you can buy kits and diy.

You're absolutely right, looking at the prices, they're nearly 200% of the US price, the one i like is around CHF 4,500, which is more expensive than a whole furnished bedroom.

I were checking this company which sells the mechanism at a good price & looks very easy to fit so i might try that one on a nice bed frame & combine with a cabinet too for half the price + 1 hour of handy work.

There is a single bed version on Ricardo . Currently at CHF1450

The Murphy bed looks good if you are damn strong, it appears to have no spring assist to lift the mattress.

I work for a Zimmerei and can make you one to your/mine design if you are interested pm me.

The mechanism alone is between 1585 and 1655 Chf see http://shop.opo.ch/ishop/app?compone...uNDUwLjAx&sp=2

I've seen those at Möbel Markt in Dogern, Germany. They don't show it on their website but they definitely have a few selection in their store.

You can find their location on their website.

I used to have a Murphy bed in my tiny studio in Los Angeles. It was amazing! I can't believe they aren't more popular than they are. It really freed up some space to be used for things related to being awake. I don't know anything about the mechanism, but it was very easy to open and close - no strength involved at all.

Mine wasn't as chic as your pictures though; it was more along the lines of the iconic detective's bed in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

As you're in Geneva, did you thought to have a look on the French shops ?

You've got a "hall au sommeil" in Annemasse (33, Rue De La Résistance) and certainly some other shops. And Annecy is real near with the new Highway now )

I will have a look on your suggestion, though i think i will go for this , price wise I will save around 15% + quality is very good, the only thing is it will take 6 weeks to arrive, which really isn't a big deal.

Looks really good quality. And you can build something yourself if you want to hide it....

Well done finding that.

That bed frame is exactly what one needs. You can then build whatever you want round it; e.g. a wardrobe to match the room; or behind a false door or curtain etc. etc.

My next objective will be to go and look at one (and possibly buy one) to copy it with my contacts and then market it and sell it.

With the cost of accomodation this will be the future especially as people seem to divorce/seperate and there will be a demand for this.

You can imagine, you have a one bedroomed apartment but when your child comes to visit you have a bed which will keep social services happy etc.
