It is no longer possible to vent a dryer outside so you do need to watch the humidity level in the room where the washer and dryer are. You may need a dehumidifier. If the room is fitted with a wall dryer/blower (Secomat) that can work as a dehumidifer.
You probably need to get it professionally installed. Most new dryers are heat pump models. Be sure to install it in such a way that you do not need to empty the water drawer but that the water goes directly into the drain. The only maintenance on my dryer is to clean the filters. No condenser to wash.
This looks like a set up for basement sink. It would be good to have 2-3 more close-up photos so people can comment on things. Did the previous tenants have a washer/dryer there?
In any event, you want to advise the owner/regie that you are installing a washer/dryer.
I also do not see a floor drain anywhere. This could be an issue.

We had to have our last one 'professionally' put in as it was just before the flat handover and that evening I had to do it again properly.
The 'professionals' are just the people who deliver and unpack them.
Do check for leaks periodically and when you install the drain pipe, the height of the 'U' bend is critical to ensure the water drains properly and doesn't get siphoned back into the machine but the instructions are usually pretty clear about this.
With the fore-mentioned drier, it was probably one of the only things we bought without any research and although it was the top of the range Electrolux, the condenser is impossible to clean effectively. If you go for a condenser model, ensure the module with the condenser fins is either easy to clean or ideally can be removed to be washed under a tap.
Other than that, they're still going strong although the drier now has a fan motor I salvaged from an old V-Zug in it as the bearings went.
(Most machines seem to use common parts).
We had a V-Zug washer and a drier with horrible unintuitive interfaces and annoying features.
Which.co.uk rates Samsung models very highly.
Whatever model you choose, do some web searches for reviews as some top models have really bad reviews by consumers.
The only caveat to doing it himself would be the electrical hook-up. If he can just plug in the washer/dryer I would say yes. If he has an electrical hook up like this photo for the washer/dryer, he should probably have an electrician do this part (unless he has some experience with electricity).
The photo should be vertical. It is a switch to turn off the washer and dryer electrical feed.
Hence my suggestion of some extra photos.
The Regie' paperwork specifically mentions that the property includes "Bunaderie équipée (machine à laver et schedule linge)" I think we will be fine, or the Regie' will get a call from us.
I think that means that there is a communal washing room for the whole building where they have a washing machine and some clothes line set-up. Normally there will be some sort of schedule for the different apts.
If you want to do something in your apt., I strongly suggest you advise the Regie and get their OK.
Here is the full description of the apartment. They specifically mentioned that I had laundry hookups in the unit during the tour.
According to that document, YOU have a washing machine and dryer that are provided . Are they hidden someplace in the lower level? A closet?

I don't read it as that. It would appear (to me) that everything in brackets are suggested uses for a room.

You may be right with the brackets but I read it as "equipped washing room with washer and dryer." And they are showing it as a separate line/room? (not a corner of the multi purpose room). I can't imagine you making business phone calls in your "office" while the washing machine is spinning at 1'600 rpm.
He will need to ask the agent. But since this is a Geneva rental, they are happy to put lipstick on the pig any time.
From the first photo, the spot he suggested for the washer/dryer does not seem to be "purpose built" but maybe they consider that good enough for a hookup since there is water, a drain and electricity (hard to see but there I imagine).
I don't get it. The OP has a relocation agent. Why ask questions here? If that person doesn't know the answers they need to find them out. That is, afterall, what they are being paid for.
To be fair, the OP started with a question on where to get reviews for washers and driers - not something they would obviously ask their relocation agent.

It was 'helpful' EFers who, in their roundabout way took the thread in the direction it now finds itself in.
We got a little sidetracked... I'm trying to learn about the brands and which to avoid. Right now, V-Zug and Miele are the high end, expensive choices. Bosch and Siemens seem like the same machines, and will be reliable. Whirlpool, LG and Samsung are known quantities but have less than stellar reputations in the states.
Definitely avoid Samsung and Mediamarkt. I had a washer and dryer 2 in 1 twice with them and each time lasted for 6 month maximum. They are made to last for 4 months. So samsung knows that and they dont last and they try to not fix it fast. I bought my last machine with 5 year guarantee thinking that if it breaks, they will fix it anyway.. They came to fix it 3 times in one month and in the end the whole circuit burned. The repair person would come and replace something but not test that the machine is working. The customer service is hell. I'm not exaggerating. They could never find my contact information, my account got mixed with some other person, they sent the repair person to a different address.... I called 30 times, emailed and i never got a straight answer. They would always say they would follow through and call back and when i would call them, they could never find my information. Samsung uses 4 different companies: one to fix, one to take back the machine and replace it, one to give you money back. The money was suppose to be returned from a company in romania. Im actually from romania and even that didnt help. Only when i said i will contact the consumer protection, they transfered the money back to Mediamarkt - that took 6 months of hell. One year later, my credit is still with Mediamarkt even though I sent them an ungeschrieben letter to return the money to me. I dont have a machine or the money... Its been one of the most stressful experiences....
Go with Miele or Fust that does V-Zug, Adora...But the shop where you buy it from is crucial. no mediamarkt....
