Washing machine rubber door seal replacement

So one of our cats bit off a piece of the rubber seal to our washing machine door and water drips out. We can still use the communal washing machine downstairs thankfully, but I have to replace it.

I looked on the Samsung spare parts website, and they didn't have the part so I got in touch with them and they directed me to (who I assume is) their local distributor Cool AG (Plot twist - they are not so cool). So these guys quoted me 136 CHF + delivery for the seal, which is like a third of the price of the machine itself and is outrageous. So naturally I had a look around in other countries and either couldn't find the part, or found it with really long lead times (like 3-4 months). But generally outside of Switzerland it retails at 40-50 Euros.

Does anyone know of another store I could try in Switzerland for replacement parts? I don't think all the usual Hornbach, Jumbo Bau+Hobby etc. have these types of parts. It would make more sense for me to even find a defective washing machine of the same type on Marketplace, buy it, get the rubber, then chuck it out again rather than pay 140 francs for a piece of rubber!! (Rant over)

I had the same issue, Ordered the door seal from a UK website, but mine came within a week. Googling the part number is the best bet, but I guess that is what you tried.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. but next time I won't go Samsung, Other brands have much better spare parts access in Switzerland.

I also get washer parts from the UK within a week.

Thanks Tom, do you have a website you could share? As atm82 already mentioned, I did try searching for the part number but could not find a UK store selling it.

If you already know which part you need, replacement parts for many Samsung products can be purchased from the following websites:

http://www.4ourhouse.co.uk/

http://www.espares.co.uk/browse/ma596/samsung

http://www.partmaster.co.uk/samsung-parts/shop.pl

above found on samsung.com in UK

It looks like Amazon.de also sells quite a few versions of the rubber seals for Samsung washing machines:

https://www.amazon.de/s?k=Samsung+wa...ref=nb_sb_noss

I've used espares and some others, just search for the part number.

Tom

Thanks everyone for the useful links. As I said I already know the part number but could not find it anywhere. Unfortunately all these stores you kindly suggested also have stopped selling it. I guess I'll have to pay up

If I might add, you have really strong cats there, are you sure they're just cats?

Also is it possible that part number changed if machine is old so some newer machine part would work as well? Maybe worth a shot asking in those shops that don't sell the number you need anymore?

I am sure you will be able to find a seal that is identical to the one you wish to replace but with a part number that is different from the one you have because it is for a newer model.

Would suggest that you Google " rubber seal for Samsung washing machine model xxxx" and you should find seals that are compatible with your washing machine.

You also mention that you did find the seal on some websites but with long lead times. Go back to those listings and see whether they mention which models the seal will fit. Then go to the UK sites and see if they have seals for these other ( presumably newer ) models.

It's amazing how many parts are interchangeable between manufacturers - I replaced the fan motor in our Electrolux with one from a broken V-Zug. I was the same model number.

I suspect door seals are more unique - especially for a machine which is not European.

To the OP: Out of interest, what was the part number for the door seal you need?

And I for our Candy with some generic stuff I found on ebay.it! I also modified it to make it more reliable.
