In my experience Zanussi are the best in washing machines and fridges for that matter. They are extremly reliable and very good quality products and seem to last forever. I have a feeling indesit is also part of the same company too or used to be. My mother has had this brand and they are very good too.
Not looking for the cheapest thing in absolute terms. Want a machine that has at least 1200 spin rate, 7 kg. capacity and A ratings in washing and spinning (as well as efficiency). Oh, and a reliable brand.
My post was intended for the OP or anyone else who might be looking for an affordable washing machine. Didn't see that you were reviving a -relatively- old thread. Just ignore my post if it is of no help to you.
I have been searching and searching for a BIG washing machine with a drum that can hold approx 120 L (basically an american type washing machine). I'm tired of never being able to catch up with the washing. I'm tempted to get a second one, but don't have the space and it also does not seem very ecological, not to mention the cost. So short of buying an industrial machine (which is out of my range), has anyone ever seen an extra large washing machine intended for use in a home in CH?

Seems to be feature rich. One thing that I didn't like about the Miele is that its programs didn't let you choose a higher spin speed for a particular cycle (read through the online manual 'cause I'm a nerd). I like having that level of control. I also found a ton of reviews from UK websites positive about this LG machine. I will be sure to post my review here once it arrives.
Oh, about that. Funny thing is that they can't deliver it for another couple of weeks because the delivery guy (yes, note the singular), his kids will be on school vacation and so it won't be possible to arrange delivery, even though the machine is in the attached warehouse for a couple of weeks. Has anyone else noticed the frequency with which some people here tell you that something can't happen cause they are on vacation? Why on earth do people not arrange to have their duties covered by colleagues? Weird to me!
I'm on my second CH/EU 'extra large' (supposedly 8kg) machine - and the short answer is:
Oh, how I miss my Maytag.
The 8kg machines are marginally more useful, but neither of mine could handle a small-ish quilt or vetbed. In fact the repairman (with whom I've become fairly well acquainted )told me that they really should not wash a load of more than 6kg, and never one big item.
Granted, I'm probably hard on machines - but I've come to realize that I need to think of a front loading machine as a semi-disposable appliance. My current machine has just given up the ghost at less than 5 years, and two lasted less than three. At CH prices this is painful. So next the machine - for which I am currently looking - will be purchased from DE. Even if I can't get the functionality I need, at least I won't have to dig so deep in my pocketbook.
Panasonic has a 10kg machine now, LG an 11kg one. In one consumer test report the machines were rated only as 'gut', but I need to do some further research.
That LG one was the one I found when I googled around for a XL washing machine. I went on the LG website, but couldn't find that model so I sent an email to the company, but haven't heard back yet. I know people back in Canada with LG machines that are very happy with them- I just don't know the model numbers or if they even would be available here.
My machine, almost 7 years old, looks like it's on it's last legs, so I'm trying to inform myself about what's out there. I don't know if this is done, but maybe if you are interested, we could order them together and get some kind of discount or reduction on shipping?
That's why you need a Miele, the most expensive washing machine money can buy, but they last . Mine is 10 years old, no worries at all (remeber to use Calgon or a similar product, it helps a lot). My parents have had theirs for 11 years now, and when they bought it, it replaced their previous 22 years old Miele which was still working like it was on the first day. At the time, the delivery people joked about how they would not normally get to replace Mieles that were less than 25 years old.
I agree about the Miele. I had a Siemens dishwasher for only 4 years, and the repairman came 3 times during those 4 years- you can imagine what that cost. We invested in a Miele and although we've only had it for 3 years, we've had no problems so far, touch wood!
We also had a Miele washing machine a few years back in an apartment and the wash always seemed to come out cleaner than the Siemens that we now have.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Miele offers a large 10-12 kg machine (unless you go for an industrial- but the cost-yikes!)
Well, I agree that I should have listened to the advice to buy the Miele washing machine....really, really regret not doing it.
In my opinion, and based upon my experience, LG warranty service in Switzerland is a disaster.
