Watch Battery Replacement - Zurich

Does anyone know the best place to get a watch battery replaced in central Zurich? (Bog-standard waterproof Seiko.)

It should be an easy and quick job - is there anywhere you guys would recommend? Not sure if the jewellers on Bahnhofstrasse would be a rip-off or if it makes no difference for this kind of work...

I normally go to Mister Minit to change the battery on my Omega, it costs CHF 10. I think you can find a mister minit in the bahnhof otherwise in the big Migros on lowenplatz.

I didn't even know they did watch batteries, thanks

I took my watch to Manor to replace the battery. They were busy so they couldn't do it on the spot, so I had to go back to pick it up.

I ended up in Jelmoli in the end. They have a section on the ground floor for Christ brand watches and so on, with a guy there who looks after a service counter. He did it in half an hour for CHF 34.

I'm not really sure whether that's a good price or not (probably not!), but at least it was quick and easy, which is was what I after.

I take them to St Annahof - upstairs - for replacement. They usually do straight away if not busy. Equivalent price to Mr Minit (it might actually even be a Mr Minit.)

Hi,

Where can I buy watch battery CR2016 in Zurich? Thanks!

Probably at Pusterla's, www.pusterla.ch

I went to Coop City on Bahnoffstrasse. There is a watch repair on one of the upper floors. Cheap and fast.

I went to Mister Minit in Sihlcity and I'm really disappointed. I took there two watches. A completely incompetent guy started working on them. He had very dirty and shaky hands (like a shoemaker would, what he probably is) and was very careless with my watches. He threw them around the glass counter.

With the first one, he played 10 minutes just to open the back and then ended up making a huge scratch on the back side. He changed the battery in the end but it took him a lot of time and trying.

With the second one he also played 10 minutes and couldn't figure out how to change the battery... In the end he gave up, put it back together and gave it back to me. I only realized it at home that he messed up the buttons and they stopped working. Luckily he didn't break anything but we had to take it apart again and fix it.

This cost me 20 CHF. (The battery is worth ~3 CHF)

On the subject of watch battery replacement, has anyone has a Tissot T-Touch battery replaced recently at an official dealer and how much did they pay?

(I'd rather avoid the shoe-shine bloke in the thread above).

Did anyone have a recommendation for battery replacement in Zurich that isn't Mister Minit and that doesn't cost more than 10-15CHF?

I have 4 watches that all decided to stop ticking around the same time

See my post above; Coop City/Bahnoffstrasse has a watch shop which changed my batteries quickly and it was cheap. Don't remember how much, though.

Hi! Thanks for the reply! Someone else said the one in St Annahof/Coop City Bahnofstrasse is a Mister Minit- that's why I was trying to avoid that one Maybe I'll stop by there and check it out though if you say it went fine!

I don't remember it being a Mister Minit, but it was a few years since I was there. It was upstairs (several floors) and as I remember it, seemed to be just a part of the Coop City store. It was quite small with a counter and a few watches. Seemed like they mostly did battery swaps and changing watchbands.

Good luck!

I have a Tag Heuer Carrera watch and the battery is dying. About 18 months ago the Tag logo actually fell off the watch face, so I took it to a 'Tag' dealer at a shop here in Zug (the watch was still under warranty, if I recall, but originally purchased in the Far East). The shop sent the watch to Geneva and I didn't get it back until about 3 weeks later and had to pay approx 50F.

Does anyone know of any authorised Tag dealers in the Zug, Zurich or Lucerne area where I can get a battery replaced on the spot? (I'm aware that the watch has to have be re-sealed when a battery is replaced in order for it to remain waterproof, although I always take it off when I have a shower/bath or swim) so I don't want to go to a Mr. Minit type place. OTOH I don't want to be without my watch for a few weeks if possible.

Hi,

I took my old Tag to Lohri at the old town of Zug.

Please note they are not a Tag dealer!

There is a Tag Heuer Boutique at Grendelstrasse 8, Lucerne.
