Does anyone know what else I need to do?
I am in Malta at the moment, and watching British TV (via a UK IP address) on my laptop. I would much rather watch programmes on my television but when I connected my laptop to the TV via a skart cable it did not work.
Do you have any other input jacks on your TV?
do you have HDMI on the laptop?
HDMI is the best and easiest. Latest Laptops and TVs both should have these.
When using scart (your laptop has a scart socket??) check you've plugged in and selected (if applicable) input and output correctly. You may also have to manually select 'source' for scart on your TV.
I've done this before using an A/V to Scart adaptor. It's possible, but a PITA.
Thanks guys ... I am going to have to ask a friend about the above questions!!
Google is your friend ....
Ahh, thanks. I haven't got one of those. Is that essential?
.... for an HDMI cable connection ..... yes.
What about a VGA port (laptop and TV)?
Unfortunately will only work for video and not sound. Separate connection for sound would be required, or have laptop at side of TV, using laptop speakers.
