Weather: recommended app

Hi

What is your recommended app/site for getting a reliable weather forecast?

I've been using the meteoswiss app with good results for several months, but recently it's forecasts have been quite poor, e.g. Today it shows it should start raining at around 16:00, but it's currently pouring.

The iOS app shipped by Apple is useless for forecasts, but generally good if you want to know what its doing outside right now.

The other day I saw someone using WeatherPro, which seemed to be giving good results at the time.

Other recommendations?

Try this:

https://www.meteoblue.com/en/switzerland/weather-basel

I've found it fairly reliable recently.

I use both MeteoSwiss and WeatherPro. Neither is 100% accurate but I find MeteoSwiss has a slight edge over WP in accuracy, level of detail on forecast maps for Switzerland, and load speed. WP on the other hand covers the whole of Europe so I keep both. I have a paid subscription to WeatherPro but I will probably not renew it, as I don't find their paid features give a lot more than what you get without the subscription.

I like the SRF website..

I use the following apps which are 4-5 stars rated for iPhone:

SRF Meteo

Weather+

MeteoSwiss

Yahoo Weather

Weather for Switzerland

Landi weather app. or the weather from the menu of Search.ch are reasonable alternatives.

EDIT Forget the above - I think they both use data from Metro Schweiz.

I use WeatherPro. I even upgraded to the subscription (which gives you hourly forecasts and the 14 day outlook, plus a couple of other forecasts which may or may not be interesting to you).

It's IMO very reliable.

Plus, you get the weather everywhere on the planet, which is helpful when you're on vacation.

There are probably local websites for any part of the world that let you have that (precise) local weather forecast for free - but good luck finding them (and understanding them, in the local language).

The subscription is what? 6 oder 12 CHF per year?

That's just 1.5 bus-trips to work for me.

It was one of the first apps I bought and I think it's the only in-app purchase I ever make on my iPhone.

There's a companion-app "MeteoEarth", which is also available on the Mac - but it's usefulness is a bit limited IMO.

I use meteo.search.ch It's usually fairly accurate in the short term. Also has the rainfall radar (and forecast).
