Spending money on a decent webcam for skype is money worth spending. We have a cheap camera and an expensive one. The difference in terms of usability, picture etc is most definately worth it!
The Logitec Quickcam Pro 9000 as recommended by Skype is worth the money.

From Amazon in the UK 44.98 GBP (82CHF) although you need to get it back here somehow, not sure if they will ship this overseas.

I can only agree with that... Added if you have a good enough computer and a good enough internet connection on both ends of the connection, you can make Skype HQ video calls...
