Hello,

My husband has been offered a job close to Basel. What websites are best for looking for rental houses/apartments?

Is 2500-3000ch a decent budget for a 3 bedroom? We are a couple plus baby.

Any recommendations on best areas to live?

This site is the best one because it's a Real estate search engine. It searches the Swiss Internet to find houses, apartments as well as commercial properties and quickly deliver an overview.

No. Some ads are written in English, and some sites themselves are in English (but not the content), but none of the various property search engines offer a translation function. Use google translate.

Nope, not really. Main pages will be in English, but not individual descriptions usually.

You’d better find someone who can translate for you because the rental contract, car leasing, etc, will also be in German.

It is a good idea to have the rental web site send you emails when a new property comes up. There should be a feature for this and if the property is good you will need it or you will miss the good ones. Also winter here is a bit slow so be patient.

Dont enter into this one half hearted or you will get a crappy unit. And read the threads here on rental issues. It will save you a lot of troubles.
