I love this idea! The formalities would definitely be somewhere in Scotland anyway, so this would work out well!
I guess by elope, I meant just the 2 of us, without any loved ones. But I would never do it without telling anyone! I've told my family what our preferences are, and I think my Mum is a bit sad, but she's also understanding of our reasons. The rest of the family have been wonderful, they've all said 'it's your day, whatever makes you happy is best.' I have a pretty great family
That sounds very sensible to me.
It’s your wedding day and it should make you happy. Putting yourself through a huge amount of stress and discomfort just because it would make other people happy is not what it should be about.
Weddings nearly always cause friction and upset because there’ll always be somebody who won’t be happy about something or other.
Do what makes you happy and create some lovely memories for you both.
