I want to organize a small, not very formal wedding party for 30-35 people sometime in May next year. Good food and some nice music (like a DJ or they allow me to bring a playlist) are the most important for me. I am happy to do the decorating and flower arrangements myself. I am also quite flexible on the location, as long as it's either in a nice building in the city or surrounded by nature. It would be a bonus if I can bring the drinks myself.
Do you have experience with smaller parties, not necessarily weddings? Can you suggest some nice venues?

I don't know what area you're looking to celebrate in, but if you're near Zurich I have a nice recommendation. My husband and I got married last year and did a small reception with the family at a hotel called Waldheim. It sits right on a lake and it is beautiful at almost any time of the day, but especially around dusk!
I made my own decorations and the staff was kind enough to allow me to bring some of it early. They set it all up for us to our specifications on the day, but the room was so nice it didn't need much additional decoration. The manager was lovely and very accommodating of our wishes. They allowed us to bring in our own music and even set up a slideshow with a projector screen.
The food there is delicious, the staff is friendly/professional, and you really can't beat the setting! We got some of the most beautiful photos there and our guests still bring up how nice everything was. In fact, we've had several friends who've since celebrated their anniversaries or other special events there.
Hello SaraInKingdom! Thanks for sharing your experience. I live in the Zürich area (totally forgot to write that), but Zug area is not that far, so I will have a look over there.
These are all places who would cater for that sort of size wedding party. Most places will either arrange decoration by a local florist or allow you to do so yourself - and most will have a corkage fee on wine if you bring your own: 25-40chf a bottle!!
I don't know if it's too formal or too expensive/luxurious, but I know someone who got married here: http://www.giardino-verde.ch/ and it looked beautiful.

There are of course places for smaller wedding celebrations, quite beautiful and cosy. May I ask what would be your preferable city? Ive worked with different locations around Switzerland, there for sure would be something to your liking, plus you are starting the planning way in advance, which is always great thing to find perfect vendor/venue on time!!
