Weed??!! What is the law here?

So far I can remember is: it is illegal to buy and sell weed, but grow your own and smoking is OK, also under 10g is for personal use. But don't hang me if it's wrong and I'm 8 years out of the country.

Narcotics are defined according to the Narcotics Act of 1951 which lists controlled and forbidden substances. I have attached a French copy for your perusal.

Listed are all varieties of Hemp that fall under Probitited Stupefants

hemp drugs to smoke

hemp extract to extract narcotics

hemp oil to make drugs

hemp, resin (hashish)

Hemp, dying to get drugs

BTW - you can find out some really interesting information and documents here:

Wot? They dye it? or dying trying to get it? Or is the expression "dying for a spliff" a crime in itself?

@ Traubert - was it you that posted a while back about a load of "herbs" imported from abroad that was being investigated by customs?

If yes, what happened, or is this why you are quoting chapter and verse on this thread?

If your white its ok.

If your black its illegal.

In Geneva, does anybody know where you can a decent pot? I heard its like 50chf for 3-4grms, is that true?

Thanks in advance!

You can have mine, if you want to come to Lausanne to collect it.

I've got some huge cannabis plants which originally came from bird-seed falling from the bird-house on my balcony, onto the plants below.

It just amused me to let them grow.

Mind you, as I've heard cannabis smoking lessens arthritic pain, I might use it myself.

I got nailed with administrative costs, legal fees and a whopping fine for what turned out to be a minuscule amount of a prohibited herb. All other legal herbs that I had imported too were worked in as add-mixtures and therefore subject to the same penalty.

It was a serious over-reaction by some very zealous customs officials and gemeinde police.

from bird-seed? how is that possible? :P

you know where i can get straight buds? you, perhaps?

Perhaps that's why birds can fly so high?

And if you're brown, it's terrorist activity.

Seems there's no clear consensus on what's legal here.

Let me just say one thing about growing it at home. From the perspective of a landlord whose tenants had a moderately sophisticated grow operation in their basement, I hope anyone who jeopardizes the integrity of the flat they're in gets hit with a bill that brings their high right down to hell.

I actually evicted the tenants on late rent (easier to do than with a grow op) and they trashed the place, cancelled their last rent check and then still refused to pay up after I won in court. Fortunately, the plants weren't that mature according to the repair guy who discovered them but this stuff can lead to horrendous mold and damp that destroys a home. I have some acquaintances who faced five-figure sums to repair the damage.

Pretty sure most of the people in this thread are just talking about a few plants for personal consumption. But I wanted to share a bit about the consequences of those who take it further.

Same here - the smell is so pungent.

Perhaps we should go into business, Odile, to augment our pathetic UK pensions.

We could make our fortunes before we get raided.

Sorry to blow smoke on your pot plans, but the seeds you get in the bird seed is very low in THC. I even bought some cannibis seeds from migro once but they were only "ornamental" with practically no THC.

Party-pooper

Starting watching "Weeds" as research! Although "pensioner weed" doesn't have the same ring to it as "MILF weed".

As everybody says, in principle cannabis is illegal. But there is this weird article 19b in Swiss drug law: http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/812_121/a19b.html

That means basically that consuming small quantities (and sharing them with your adult friends) is not punishable. I guess that's where the relative tolerance comes from. But as far as I understand buying/growing any quantity of cannabis still remains punishable. Although I've seen many balconies proudly displaying a few cannabis pots in alternative neighbourhoods.

so still the question is in the air, in Geneva is it possible to find smth good? XD

apparently it's not that illegal to grow in switzerland.

the building next to my office....
