I’m looking for inspiration of where to go this weekend. We’ve got CFF passes for both days. Somewhere outside big cities at least as far away as Berne.
We recently had a nice overnight in Brig.

They have a good terrace, with a breakfast room and ‘all day’ self-service bar/lounge area.
From there, you could take the train up to Zermatt, or over the Simplon pass to Domodossola - or even through to Locarno/Bellinzona.
The best part was that Zurich-Brig was just one train, no changes required.
Do you know Appenzell? If not you could do Appenzell and Herisau on one day and St. Gallen on the other. Rorschach on the lake is nice as well.
There is also a direct train from St. Gallen to Lucerne (Voralpenexpress). The journey is nice. Lots of options for a shortish to longer walk.
Near Appenzell the walk from Wasserauen to Seealpsee is very easy. But check the weather. If there is still snow then Rorschach at the lake Constance (Bodensee) could be nice.
If I were to take the train from Zurich to Brig I would make sure to take the trains that go onto the old Lotschberg line, may take more changes but it's a far more scenic route...
What's a CFF pass?
From Nyon it’s a long detour to do either Lotschberg.
A day ticket ...
