Weesen-Quinten hike - by Walensee

Hi, some of you will remember running the uphill part of this hike (Weesen - Quinten direction). On Sunday I hiked it with kids aged 7, 9 and 10 with lunch in Quinten and return by boat.

Highly recommended day trip, I also wanted to share the descriptions in somewhat surreal english at http://www.walenseeschiff.ch/Home/HomeEN/Hikes.aspx with thanks to the Schiffsbetrieb for reaching out to english speakers.

If you do this hike, avoid the Quinten-Betlis direction, unless you fancy walking up 300m of stairs-like slope.

Also, you don't have to park your car at the Weesen park where the boat goes, drive further towards Betlis and park by the windsurfer's cafe 3 km further in the hike direction, you will only miss out walking on pavement/sidewalk in the town.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the post pal. Yeah, I remember that run, someone around here called it "fairly flat", I'd hate to name names, but DodgyKen does spring to mind.

So, when are we going to run all the way from Weesen to Walenstadt? PT Kate says it's a great run, should be beautiful in the fall.

Thanks so much for the post I am always looking for new hike and trails to explore - will enjoy this one with friends

This is a nice stretch and you're right about the Stairmaster ordeal. The Panoramaweg higher up is also a good afternoon out with broader views. The whole Walensee area is great for days out.

Thanks for posting the trip report. I am sure that many people here hike, I wonder why so few of them shared their experiences with us

I would be up for running the full length of the lake as part of my marathon training - I can do:

Weekend 2nd Oct

Weekend 9th Oct

Weekend 23rd Oct

If I get more than a couple of responses I'll organise something - with perhaps some food served in our humble mountain shack afterwards.

And in repayment you can help load some garden trimmings into a skip

Thanks DK, post it, I'm up for October 2 and possibly 9. We could position one of our "Made in Mùˆnchen specials" vehicles at Walenstadt beforehand. I'll skip the feeding and therefore avoid anything remotely to do with gardening unless it involves scare-crowing.
