Wetzikon - What is it like as a town to live in ?

I am interested in views on living in Wetzikon (Zurich) and am interested in any views regarding location , transport links etc , General life for a family .

Based on my experience , Wetzikon its a small town and pretty quite. If you come from a big City you gonna find it difficult to adjust since there is not much to do here especialy winter time.

However when the weather gets better you have lake pfafikon which is 5 to 10 minutes ride with bike depends what part of it you live.

Summer time there is quite a bit concerts going on ,also there is Food Festival and Chilby as well.

Right now the main street to banhoff its a mess due to construction and that will finish mid 2015.

Good luck with your move, feel free to ask any other questions.

Cheers

Wetzikon looks good for trains in to Zurich HB, but the town is long and narrow with the station at one end and the shops (Coop and Migros) at the other. There is also a bad traffic problem as the Oberland Autobahn traffic drives through the south (station) end of town.

The autobahn is due to bypass Wetzikon sometime later this century...

Thank you for this information , I like the comment "sometime this century !! "

Boring, trust me I lived there for 7 years.. You got good links to Zurich and the mountains if you like that sort of thing. Bars you have Octobar but its full of kids, Pirates near Hinwil is good for live music and the Route Bar 66 used to good for after work beer but now its more like a smaller version of Pirates and the nice Czech girl is no longer working there. The Classroom is a small live music venue that's quite good for the more mature person!

Its like most towns in Switzerland, if you want some action you have to go to the city.

Are you thinking of working for the Sauber F1 Team?
