What can I do with these? Hazelnuts?

Good ole days in Switzerland !Blueberries mount Pilatus ,Mushrooms of all kind, Wild strawberries, Nuts, Blackberries ,etc etc . And last and not least Stealing Cherries and Peaches in Ticino

Boiling chestnuts is not unusual and neither is boiling peanuts. Depends on where you come from I guess.

I saw boiled peanuts. I didn't dare to try them.

Boiled peanuts are a taste of my childhood. Love them!

Yes. If a hazelnuts or tree nut looks a bit odd (e.g. partially wrinkled) they taste bad but that's all.

(European) Beech nuts(word? "Bucheckern") taste well too, but be aware that they are slightly(!) poisonous, heating (e.g. boil in water or roast or bake) destroys the poisonous components. This is not a problem if a grownup tries a few raw, but keep your small children from tasting them raw. They're quite nutritious, in the olden days they were actually collected. They're well worth trying next time you go for a walk, they're ripe in September, later in elevated areas. Boiling the whole fruit makes it easier to take out the nut, just be aware that there will be many "blind" ones (i.e. no nut inside, perhaps 80%).

Clean them and turn them to hazelnut flour in a food processor.

Make your fave brownie recipe by replacing half the flour with the hazelnut flour, and using a little bit less fat (butter, oil whatever your recipe uses just put a little bit less)

thank me later

Just can't be done with fresh hazelnuts- it will just turn to a paste.

We always ate loads of beech nuts as kids, fresh and toasted. Certainly no ill effect ( )

hence why I said also replace some of the fat

... but there won't be any 'hazenut flour' but 'hazelnut paste'...

We used to keep hazelnuts over winter, sometimes for more than one year. They would then be dry and wrinkled and tasted totally different and wonderful in a different way - and could be turned into powder.

Had a handful of the hazelnut fro the red leaved filbert I planted 4 years ago- first good crop.

true my bad
