What do i do with all the IKEA packaging cardboard????? Does IKEA have a recycling bin that i missed?
They have cardboard and ploystyrene recyclying bins by the pickup point
I did cut mine into pieces and recycled at Gemeinde pick-up point ones per month just to avoid driving with boxes back to Ikea.
we have a day especially for paper collections in addition to our normal waste collections... check to see if you have this in your area. if there's no other way of disposing of it, you could wait until the once monthly collection of all junk... (although i cant vouch if all cantons do this). Ours happens to be in the first week of every month.
thanks folks!
I jammed all of ours into the basement, intending to put it out on carboard day.
2 years later I seemed to have missed all the cardboard days and the basement was impenetrable .
Then the landlord informed us that the attic was being transformed into another apartment, and anything left up there after a certain date would be treated as abandoned and pitched.
Took a few trips up the stairs but I abandoned a lot of boxes in the attic .
I know of a couple that made a little journey to Konstanz - simply because in Germany they have this strange idea of providing collection containers for paper and cardboard - just as they do for bottles etc. Wierd idea hey?
Not so weird, really. There are several place in Kanton Aargau where you can dump cardboard and paper free of charge rather than wait for the recycling pick up in your own Gemeinde. They also accept many other things free of charge. (old metal etc) (here is the link, German only).

When I tore up the old flooring in our house, I took it there for disposal. You drive your car onto the scale, they calculate the weight, then you dump the stuff, drive back on the scale and the charge is calculated. It was about 20 chf for the lot. The flooring company quoted over 100 chf just for the disposal.
The shopping center Zugerland near Zug has bins for glass, plastics, paper and cardboad.
Does anyone know where the "pick up point" is inthe Pratteln Ikea?
