what does 'duration of stay: xxx' mean?

This question may have been asked already - but a search did not reveal anything. Just received my visa today (multiple entry, D type 'motif professional'), on it the duration of stay is indicated as XXX. What does this mean?

I believe since you got your dependent work permit the duration of stay is linked with your partner's permit ,the validity of your residence will come along with your resident card once you are in Switzerland.

yes, thats right duration of stay for a dependent is linked with primary applicant
