Anecdotally, they can look through the rubbish, get your address and fine you 100 chf
I don't know of anyone who has actually been fined !
They might well rifle through the bag to discover the culprit and either send you a warning with a photocopy of an incriminating piece of evidence, or a fine (with a photocopy etc...).
Sorry for being so stupid sometimes, I thought they had already taken it.
Can someone please explain to me the 'Vignette' on Garbage Bag..i only thought that we need the garbage 'Zuri' bag (2 chf per bag..).
Apologies if this is a very basic one
If you leave it festering too long, you will get fined.
Jim
Only Zurich city uses the Zurisack. I recently moved out of Zone 10 and looked like a right plonker when I went into my new local Coop and asked for them.
Now, I have to buy stickers and stick them on normal trash bags. They do work out cheaper though!
I've tried Thalwilsackli but it looks like they are going to short-circuit.
I have learned that abfallsackli (foif-e-droootsk) gets me what I need.
Not even - if in Basel, she'd be using bebbisags (don't ask )
Out in Baselland, I believe they use stickers on normal rubbish bags. The bigger the bag the more stickers you have to use per bag.
Is that Züriduutch for 35?
It's working for me, so I ain't going to change it.
Later, when my wife left, she noticed one bag that had not been picked up, and asked me later if I had put a vignette on the bag, I told her yes.
Later, the remaining bag, which I assumed was someone else's, disappeared. The next day we received a personally addressed letter addressed to me with explicit instructions on the proper use of vignettes...a whole one must be used for 35 liter bags. So obviously the garbage collector radioed in a code violation, and a rapid-response garbage investigation team was dispatched to collect the offending bag and bring it back to HQ laboratories for detailed analysis as to who it belonged to.
At least they didn't charge me anything. Probably won't be so easy if it happens again...I am sure I have a black mark on my record now.
Just in case anybody is finding out about all this for the first time, do not, under any circumstances, put batteries in bins. You'll get a hefty fine if caught.
Don't ask me how I know .
Here's a nice story for you:
Having literally just stepped off the plane and being totally new to CH, the offending party (who shall remain nameless) was invited to send in a letter of objection etc. A few days later, he/she received a letter asking him/her to appear at the local magistrates with his/her lawyer! A nice guy at the magistrates took pity on him/her and advised him/her quietly that he/she had 0% chance of the fines being overturned and that he/she would have to pay all the court costs too.. So he/she just paid the fines. The End.
The moral of the story is: don't ya be messin' wit dem swiss rubbish rules, boy!!
