What is the Swiss view of men with long hair?

Hi All I have searched everywhere, but got no clue as to the actual view of men with long hair in Switzerland. I am in discussion with a company regarding a job and need to know if it WILL go against me if I turn up with long hair. Not MAY it be a problem, but WILL it be a problem. In the UK it COULD be a problem, but I have always way outstripped the requirements for the role, so have overcome any possible problem. If it is a show-stopper in Switzerland I will cut, but I really don't want to! btw The role is in the French area and this is not the banking industry, which I know can be a bit more conservative than others. Thanks

The SVP's Oscar Freysinger (spelling?) has long hair, so it can't be that disreputable.

Entirely long hair is unacceptable, mullets are regulation.

...just out of curiosity, why do you like having long hair?

Ummm - hard to answer that. Always had long hair, and why not, would be the only answers I could really give. It is just me. I have also spent quite a lot of time as a singer in a rock band, so it kind of looks the norm in that situation.

I think I would rather shave it all off!!!

You should be OK as long as you put gel in it. Lots of gel.

..makes sense, I find it rather unappealing as I keep a neat, clean, buzz. I don't think that it will be a big issue in Switzerland.

you didn't have to answer but thanks (LIB is hair prejudiced...:P)

so come on cookie - we need a pic dude

depends on the job/industry. if you were going to be a university unix system administrator, long greasy hair would be de rigeur.

There are quite some boys of the upper class in France with long hair.

It is acceptable. But then again they don't work......

This can really help!

I did it once, when I though my long hair might provoke.

You need to be careful with it, and practice to get the right result.

It can be really sexy too

LoL indeed!

...I just don't see what motivates a man to have long "prrrrrty hurrrrr"

Were i work we have some guys with long hair and they are in their 50s. So no problem. Although the only contact we have with customers is over the phone

OK, this is the stage look - NOT how I would go for an interview!!

Awesome - thanks for posting it - good luck with the job - & at least you have a backup one

It really really will depend on the job. I frankly do not see you in private banking like that, but in general are Swiss pretty open to beards or unusual haircuts. I work in a very Swiss IT environment and you would not look out of place here.

I had long hair, but cut it off just before visiting CH last year, mainly because Mrs Texaner (who had ordered it grown long) decided she wanted it short again. .. But I noticed plenty of long-haired guys when I was there. Like anywhere else, I would expect there to be pockets of prejudice, but I don't think it will be a deal-breaker, especially if you interview well.

Depends on the job... I know one company where this IT admin goes to work every day with rather colorful punk-do (i.e. straight up, starched with egg).

Might not work so much as a Bank teller, but some companies are quite OK with purple hair, tattoos, piercings etc...
