One of my favourite songs - but then I am a huge Radiohead fan

I've been stuck on Switzerland's own Cataract and Napalm Death this week.

staple diet of tom waits, johnny cash and the stones.

I got the latest Uncut magazine yesterday and it has musicians picking their favourites for the year - Dave Grohl picked Celtic Frost , a Zurich band, of note.

Loaded up on the MP3 player, this weeks diet:

Whiskeytown - Stranger's Almanac

The Kill Devil Hills - The Drought

Midlake - The Trials Of Van Occupanther

Espers - The Weed Tree

Drive-by Truckers - A Blessing An A Curse

Cooper Temple Clause - Make This Your Own

Brendan Benson - Lapalco

Augie March - Moo, You Bloody Choir

Dave has been in awe of them since the Hellhamer days, so no surprise there. Surprising the resurgance of Frost these days. I've interviewed them in both the 80s and a couple of years ago, their attitude (and music) has definitely matured with age and I think that's what has helped them come back as well as they have.

'Uncut' is my oasis of sanity in a mad, mad world. Although most reviews get 4/5 and Dylan's on every third cover, it's a great mag

"Bitter, Fit Crack" by the Macc Lads.

His other two choices were the Raconteurs and Scissor Sisters, whom I love and loathe respectively. I think he was trying to show the breadth of his musical tastes

Never fear Bobby's not on the front again (that was the December issue), they've moved on and given the cover to some young up&comers ......the Beatles.

Gogol Bordello. The greatest (only) NY/Russian Gypsy Punk/Ska band ever?
