What Time do you get home from work?

Sometimes I wonder.

It's a mix of web development and programming. The "day job" contract involves using a client's proprietary technology to script web-based applications for their clients in oil & gas production. The rest is mostly hosting and maintaining sites for a handful of small businesses.

Aww, thanks. I wish it was music, haha, way more useful. Not so in terms of one career, usually, though. I am working on something abstract and unpaid, but it might help someone laters, I hope. And it's a degree, so it is an investment. Ugh.

My normal job finishes in dif times of the day, then I fetch the kiddo from her daycare or run to uni for French. You can always make up the time you don't see your kids, though. Quality time does not constitutes of the amount of time one spends with one's kids. I found family meals to have a great impact on family cohesiveness - we pay attention to those. Sometimes at odd hours, too. It's nice to all cook together, have other routines.

Mint - what does that mean? Proper? I only know mint the herb I like to drink.

I get out of the house at 6.40 and never return before 6, sometimes I have to work until midnight and sometimes I'm away for a whole week - boy I should look for another job....sometimes I even have to work on weekends

Nobody has so extreme working hours as my ex girlfriend. She is Lawyer in DC, and last time I saw her was in Scotland, where she could work from my house for 2 weeks.

I went to bed saturday evening, while she stayed up and worked on her laptop. Next morning 10 AM, she was STILL working.

I gave up calling her, as she did not want to be called at work, and she worked weekends as well, and if i called during the weekend, it was usually her mum answering, telling me, she was at work.

I blame her work, that our relationship did not last.

Doc.

Dont blame her work blame her It is her choice

Thank you Annette

Every meal is a family one in mine. I always eat with the kids, partly because I like cooking and want them to eat the same good food that I do, but mostly for the same reasons as you mention. When iIm home we always go to my parents for Sunday dinner - my old man is a top, top chef.

Mint - it means very good, excellent, wicked, cool, top, boss, sweet, sorted, top banana - and I believe some people say proper, in Yorkshire if I'm not mistaken...

and you get job satisfaction to boot! Lucky blighter...wish I had your patience

I agree; work life balance my arse, and I'm being well and truly fleeced...but not for much longer

You've got to get your foot in the door somehow, eh?

Learn something new every day...

Only for another week...ah well at least I saw my kids for two days solid, and they still remember me and love me to bits, thank god

Not many other industries outsourcing to India yet is there? God help us if they become efficient, at the moment their communication processes are dreadful. I've had the same meeting 5 times...no one seems to have noticed except me
