We'll soon be leaving on our first family holiday in Switzerland. On the program : two days in Zermatt, five days in Locarno and a week near St. Moritz.
My husband wants to bring our bikes (two adult bikes with baby seats + one child's bike) and just bought a bike carrier for the car. However, we'll be parking the car in Tasch for two days and I don't really want to take the bikes into Zermatt. Any suggestions on what to do with the bikes for the two days we're in Zermatt? As I don't imagine it would be a good idea to leave them on the car...
While we're at it, please feel free to make any recommendations for family activities in or near any of the locations listed above
The main parking in Tasch is at the railway station, and is all indoors, well lit, and as secure as you could possibly get. Pedestrian access is only possible through the station itself, and I'm pretty sure there's CCTV all around.
So I wouldn't worry too much about leaving them locked onto the back of your car - if a potential thief is looking for bikes to steal, in Switzerland there are always going to be much easier targets than that, as the level of security applied by most cyclists is quite laughable.
Like Ace1 said; I just want to add that it's a good idea to leave your bikes with your car, because it really makes no sense to bike in Zermatt - the streets are narrow, and tons of people will be in the way. Have a fun trip!
