What's a cheap destination in Europe from Switzerland for the holidays?

Hi guys,

I'm looking to go anywhere in Europe for a 5 day stay. During the Christmas holidays, where is a good destination from Switzerland that's not too expensive?

I mean, Switzerland is pretty much in the centre of Europe. It should be one of the best countries to fly out from, right?

If you also know a good hostel in the region, I'd appreciate it a lot.

Central / Eastern Europe or Italy if you are not to keen on travelling far from home.

Poland, Czech Rep., Bulgaria, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia but bear in mind of the severe cold, even in Milan, Italy.

Rail offers are a plenty and cheap as well as some low cost bus rides and flights ( Wizz Air from Basel or Geneva ). The forum has plenty info when searched.

Intercity Buses ( traveling from zurich to rest of Europe by bus )

Cheaper flights from Basel to Skopje, Macedonia

Poland - tips?

Lufthansa discount voucher - CHF59 one way to Berlin and from thereon many low cost options to reach your goal.

Deutsche Bahn via LTUR - cheap rail tickets, both domestic and international.

Good call on the buses and trains. Flights are way too expensive around this time...

You can get a voucher for the flight from Germany to CH GVA ( EUR49 flights ).

In Poland, fly with a 30% discount ( WINTERSALE is the code ).

Try Pegasus airlines from Turkey either from GVA ( limited ), Zürich or even better from Berlin to Turkey and Iran. Once I found a flight with them for less than EUR140 rtn from Stuttgart, DE .

Hey guys,
