I am enjoying the music thread and think the time is right to ask, “what are you reading?”
I love books, thats a fact, period.
I generally have two books open in the bog, one on the kitchen table and one on the bedstand.
Some of my books I have had for decades, oodles collected from the long dead Ray of Ray’s 2nd hand books on Blackburn market and othere that have been picked up over the years.
Some rather common and some very rare.
Adam Dimment and the Dolly Dolly spy series for instance. (Vanished from the author gig in Switzerland, by the way)
Kiyle Onslott and Lance Horner and the Mandingo series, long out of print and no longer fitting to 21st century sensitivities.
And many many more.
At the moment I am workimg my way through the complete works of Sven Hassel which is a fun way to spend an afternoon.
I also use kindle.. but… I must have screwed my algorithm up because I usually get the Simon Scarrow “Rome” series and all suggestions are in similar genre.
However I read about “Mave Fly” and decided to download it.
Dont read if you are squeamish about eggs.
…just dont!
And since then I get bombarded by some of the most weirdest writings, I dont think that the fetish has a name yet.
“Tender is the flesh” is another one, it’s like reading a train wreck in slow motion.
Premise of the story is that the government has decided that a virus outbreak has left all of earths animals deadly to eat, except one.
Kinda like soylent green’s darker twin…
As nasty as it sounds its one of those books you cant put down.
If you like f-up sci-fi, read The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect.
Disturbing and makes you uncomfortable when reading it.
