Or you can park at Stettbach station. It is very close to the centre. Connect to Zurich HB by S3,9,12 train i 8 minutes.
Zurich and cheap parking don't seem to mix but there is a trick I discovered yesterday while parking at Jemoli. Standard charges in Chuffs are 7 for 2hrs, 13 for 3 hours and 8 for every hour after that. So I thought I would move the car after 3hrs and paid the ticket only to discover it was full and a line up around the block (luckily before I moved the car!!) so I left it there hoping it would not be too complicated to pay the rest when I left. The good part, I put the ticket back in the machine and was billed Chf13 for the next three hours. So for you frugal types if you pay your ticket every 2hrs then theroretically it is Chf3.50 hr for central parking. I will test this theory next time, I used a credit card so maybe this has an effect.

Really ? That sounds risky - even more considering that the Strassenverkehrsamt is the Canton's traffic services office...
So, is this still free? Or do you need a special parkkarte? I was there this morning and noticed most (maybe all) cars had a sort of card displayed on the dash.
FYI: saw a ticket on someone's windshield there today.
Zürich still has some 24 hour parking zones, free of charge.
You use your P parking card to show when you arrived.
They are on the edge of the city.
I know of a few and use them from time to time.
The one I use is around 200m from a public transport station.
Are they secret?
Municipalities on the outskirts of Zurich usually have free unlimited* street parking white zones. Try Kilchberg for example. Adliswil used to have plenty of such white zones too, but they've been repainting all of them blue recently
*It's unlimited and free for visitors and ok for a few days, but overstaying your welcome may still make them want to charge you, e.g. Kilchberg charges 35 Fr/month for regular night parking in its zones.
