Deep emotional scarring, feeling betrayed by parents and sexually frustrated cuz they dont want to show their ugly willy to the girl of their dreams. All these issues cause the 'Youth of today' problems.

That's true that is I read it somewhere. Someone told me that they heard someone say this is true to.

More than a couple of years .... a couple decades ago. Fashions just keep going round, with slight alterations. . . . . . Platform high heels were IN 30 years ago! ... Mini skirts before that!

I have it from high authority of my children (grown men now) .. that this time round the fashion pants of having belt line below bum is just an "improvement" on the previous Plumbers Crack style....?... an import from NY`s Ghetto areas....? ..ditto the radio carried on shoulder blasting out jerky sounds.

As for language .. In "my" days there were also unintelligable words we used to confound and annoy grown-ups... just slang.

It`s just a Tribal Identity .... Anything to be different .. and look cool.

I too prefer real rappers to bullshit rappers. Somebody should turn the kids on to A Tribe Called Quest, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, and classic masters like Gil Scott Heron, Black Sheep and RUN-DMC. Well said old boy!

Got to admit I don't understand the trousers that join at the knees - why would anyone want to walk like they crapped theselves? And I'm assuming that the "rappers" habit of clasping their genitals is a defensive mechanism .

I think we only have one gangsta rappa in Basel. He tries to look really hard, but just seems a bit silly. I'd love to watch him try to run, what with his trousers around his ankles.

Earlier this years, I did a series of presentations in a BL school, about the world of work. I found the students to be smart, witty and respectful. If you've problem with Today's Youth, I suppose it must be just where you are hanging out. They seem to be considerably tamer than my generation.

I actually saw this in Zurich the other day. 3 lads rushing to catch the S Bahn back to wherever-kon while holding their trousers up. Yes, I did laugh out loud.

It's ain't just the kidz! I managed to get into the Hockenheim F1 paddock this year (through a friend of a friend) and the saw the funniest thing. Sebastien Vettel running down the paddock and holding his jeans up. He got half way down and actually had to stop and hoike em up! Perhaps thats why the race suits are 1 piece

Yes. What have we left them to rebel against? They definitely need to rebel but it seems to me, we fought so hard to provide them with safety, food, not much responsibilities, ton of cash and material everything, gadgets, etc...The only thing we expect are grades, and that is so not attractive. Career. Too far ahead...

I'm starting to think it is not so easy to be a teen these days, the normal rebellion is almost impossible. So what do they do? Become invisible online, hide and accept annonymity as a way of life. Before, the rebellious youth at least owned up proudly to their revolution, went through that phase, signed their names on it, they still recall their signature rebellions now, etc. It's not like that anymore it feels and I think it is because we make that life sterile and completely comfortable. Lacking work ethics, some collective social responsibility and feeling like they do not belong anywhere (except an annonymous web) I feel is a result of adults being overly protective and not leaving anything to rebel against. Life needs to be at least a little bit hard for youth to make sense...no?
