Wheel Spacers

Hi,

I have a set of OEM Audi wheels to fit to my S4, but the offset is different to the current ones fitted.

The ones fitted are ET43 and the spare wheels I have are ET51 - so the wheel will sit closer to the hub by 8mm and may foul the suspension/brakes (I am yet to see if this happens)

Thus, would anyone know if it is permitted in Switzerland, to use wheel spacers to correct the offset?

Thanks

Surely it would depend on the width of the wheel - and/or tyre

wheel spacers are allowed, but as always need to be approved, so will cost you 5x more then everywhere else in the world.

usually spacers cost around 200 or so , you mean the "verification and approval"?

mine didn't

What did you have to do in order for them to be accepted?

Also, where did you get them from?

Thanks

If you buy them from any swiss company they will also give you papers for them. Then you have to go to the STVA to get them written in the car papers.

A set of normal spacers: 150-300chf.

STVA: 50-75chf.

Just google "Distanzschieben" and limit your results to Switzerland.

For example, this set, for an Audi S4, 55CHF for the certificate, and 94CHF/pair for the bits of Al. (You only need one certificate).

SG is a bit more explicit: http://www.stva.sg.ch/home/strassenv...en_01.2013.pdf

You could just take them off again before the MFK though in theory right and put them back on afterwards?

What if you're putting on a front splitter or lip kit that comes as an option on your car? Im guessing that doesnt need entering into the documents

Thats cheating and is illegal and potentially dangerous because you have a critical component fitted which has not been approved for street use in this country.

What if you did that using spacers made out of compressed cardboard?

Then you'd be a fool.

The MFK is not the only place and time they check.

This morning there was a traffic check at Bernstrasse Nord, Zurich Altstetten just before the on-ramp to the A1H next to Würth/Pan Gas.

One shiny white beamer was on a flat bed to be towed away.

A month ago the check was on the other side of the fence on the A1H itself, an empty flat bed waiting nearby.

There are other favorite spots such as the Uetliberg-, Barreg-, and Milchbuck Tunnel. And the alpine passes in the summer months.

I'm hoping buy adding only genuine Honda parts that were available on my car as new that I will be ok. But I wont be fitting wheel spacers either way, always good to have the info though.
