Wheels stolen from parking place

Today my wife had the unpleasant surprise to do not see our 4 summer wheels in our parking slot, it was there until yesterday when I parked the car and today when she went to the car after lunch the 4 wheels were not there anymore. Beside been annoyed by the fact the someone manage to get in our build garage and had time to remove all of them from there, now I would like to figure out if there's anything I can do in terms of insurance. We have car full coverage and house insurance, would I be able to report this to anyone of those insurances?

Why not call your insurance, I am sure they will know the answer better than anyone on here.

Is it possible your housekeeper moved them because you are not supposed to store them there?

Was garage locked?

I don't think housekeepers are allowed to remove* your belongings even if you are not allowed to store them in your parking lot. They usually let you know that you have to remove them.

* Unless you put them outside your parking lot and they cannot identify who the owner is.

In my garage, it is forbidden (though not enforced) to store anything in your lot, but the management tolerates if you keep your 4 wheels there. Some of my neighbors have strollers, carts, ski roof boxes, one has 2 x cabinets (like this ) but there is nothing else in his lot.

This is one of the reasons I have two enclosed garages, the other being the eight motorcycles.

Tom

My summer tires were stolen in my garage last April. Insurance refused to consider the matter, said there was no proof of breaking and entering.

If they would have removed I would have expect to receive a letter or something, anyway I will get in touch with them. The wheels use to be on our lot, we keep just the wheels and I see many other neighbours do the same as our garage is closed, but in fact is not so difficult to get in the garage as there's a visitors park inside separated from the one from dwellers by a cast gate.

Anyway I have decided to report it to the house insurance and see what happens and tomorrow morning I go the local police to report it officially.

For some reason my tires got stolen, but not the neighbour's, in the garage next to mine.

My suggestion: use a bolt cutter-proof chain or a rod to attach/lock all your wheels together. That way the thieves won't bother stealing them.

I'm now storing my spare tires in my basement, where they're taking an insane amount of space!

Many garages will store for you for a small price.

Your wheels were probably more expensive and/or your tires were newer (better thread depth, less wear)...

Or, and this is the most likely reason, they were the right fit.

I took some alloy wheels to the dump last Saturday , I did not have to pay & the guy working there probably has them on Ricardo right now!

msolis, so sad to hear this has happened to you in Switzerland, hope this is the worse experience you have in Switzerland.

May I suggest you let your neighbours know it has happened to you in a very nice way, maybe to suggest to them in a way so they take precautions so it does not happen to them, i.e. do not in any way suggest there are a thief or know the thief.

Then maybe one of them might have a memory recollection to let you know what happened to them.

If you do not get them back within the next month, then put a Wanted notice on this forum of the type you want & I am sure some helpful EFer will be able to either offer you similar or let you know of some for sale on a sight like ricardo.ch, local supermarket noticeboard etc, to help lessen the expense for you.

All good wishes to you both

Spot on, I think. I once had a wheel stolen right off my car, in the shared parking garage, at home in the U.S. The thieves apparently jacked up the car, took the whole right front wheel, and dropped the axle on the ground. They were kind enough to leave the brand new tires that were on the back of the car, and also left me the hubcap with lug nuts neatly lined up next to the car.

The thefts came back and now they have stolen the 4 wheels covers from the winter wheels placed in the car
