Where can I buy fireworks?

I live in Lausanne and am looking to buy fireworks for a wedding in Switzerland but google seems to come up with nothing when i type in english (and sadly my french isnt quite up to scratch).

Please can someone help?

If I remember correctly, Fireworks are only allowed on the evenings of New Year and 1. August.

Ask the local authorities maybe?

thanks everyone for your help/advice. itll be in valais so i guess i should really ask them if im allowed before i actually try to buy them

if you find you can use them legally ( doubtful ) and you still come up short on a supplier let me know..

it would be a bit of a trek for you but there is a small shop just over the border from Geneva that sells fireworks year round.

I can't think of the name of it at the moment tho ( some help eh`)

Valais is one of the Cantons more prone to wild fires, as the climate is very hot and dry in Summer. The regulations therefore change from week to week, even day by day. There is no way of knowing far in advance if fireworks will be allowed or not. Here is a quote from the official Valais website:

Lorsque les circonstances l'exigent, par exemple en période de sécheresse, le

Conseil d'Etat peut, par publication au Bulletin officiel et par lettre adressée

aux autorités communales concernées, interdire ou limiter l'usage de feux ou

de feux d'artifice en plein air sur tout ou partie du territoire cantonal.

Quick translation : 'When circumstances require it, for instance in a period of drought, the authorities can, by publication of the 'Official Bulletin' (a paper which is issued regularly by the Canton, available in all Cafés, restaurants, Commune etc) and by letter to the local Commune, forbid or limit the use of outdoor fires and fireworks, on part or whole of the Canton's territory.'. So you need to check with the local Commune a few days beforehand.

If you Google : magasin de feux d'artifice Lausanne you will find lots of addresses, including a few across the border.

it looks like i have the green light to go ahead with fireworks. id really like 1 or 2 of those boxes where you just light 1 taper and get a whole display

grynch if you can remember where to find them in france that would be super. anyone else with any suggestions would also be most welcome

I do wish I could remember the name of the shop tho.. I'd hate to have you drive there and find in a typical french way they've buggered off to the cote d'azur for a couple of months.
