Where can I find... Castile soap

Or do you have any idea what it's called in German? I've tried asking for Kastilien Seife at the local Reformhaus but they had no idea what I was talking about.

You might try asking for this:

Seifenart die oft Olivenöl enthält

I can imagine, that Savon de Marseille is simillar to Castile soap. I know that they have it with olive oil and it's available at most Coop City stores (as liquid or bar). Maybe worth a try.

Here is the website:

www.savon-de-marseille.de

Wiki explanation:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marseille_soap

You can ask for Savon de Marseille or Aleppo Soap (has also bay leaf oil in it).

Seen both in many Drugstore or Reformhaus.

??

migros sell a non-olive oil version

I had already checked that out. It costs almost as much soap is worth to have it sent here.

Looks like I'll be heading out to the Reformhaus again today! Thanks for all your help.

you might check out etsy - looks like some people make the stuff and sell it.

Today I searched in almost all the apotheke, druggerie and reformhaus in Baden town , and was told it is not available.

Does anyone out there have any clue where I can get Castile liquid soap.

Please help

Hi there

Would this help?

Cheers!

Unfortunately , no! Thanks a lot. Feels good when someone replies to your query

Castile liquid soap is made by mixing three ingredients mainly , olive oil and potassium / sodium water mix (lye) and heating over many hours. The so formed solution has to sit for 3- 4 months to be ready to use.it is highly moisturizing and used as base to make hand wash, shampoo, shower gel so on..

So I need it in the purest form

The above link one contains other additives

Thanks all the same

if you find some do let me know! i've been missing dr bonner's, esp the huge bottles- good for everything and last for a good long time...

Is not available in Lausanne ?

I am thinking that when I go for those mega grocery shopping trips across to Germany , I will enquire at The supermarket there. I just hope they speak some English there.my German is almost - zero

Incidentally I came to know dr bonners was originaly from Germany.

Hope it's available. Fingers crossed

You might want to try the droguerie du boulevard . It is below the Lausanne train station just across from the Moderne Cinema (wink wink). Corner of De Grancy and William Fraise.

They tend to have a fair stock of natural products so it would be worth a visit.

Has anyone come across Castile soap since the last post?

I have looked high and low in Switzerland and can only find it online, cheapest Amazon.de or worldwideshoppingmall.co.uk. I prefer not to pay the high transport and possible swiss tax though.

Its very natural with only a few ingredients.

Dr Bronners seems the most famous and has the PETA leaping bunny sign, meaning animals are not tortured.

DrBronners

i know it well, the pharmacy i mean i get some of my favorite goodies there but i haven't seen dr bonner's. good idea though, i didn't think of asking them- so tomorrow when i go in (to the pharmacy ) i will ask if they can get it.

I have searched all over Baden town , and the result was a big no.

One of the shop sales man told me that ,It will not be available anywhere in swissland.

I even went to the extend of searching in Lugano, in the middle of a family vacation. Unfortunately the reformhaus was closed.i was so frustrated.

The search is still on.

I did google about making some at home , with olive oil and lye.then I came to know there is a 4 month sitting period for the lye to settle.that fizzled off my enthusiasm

Let me know anyone out there finds it.

I had a similar idea Litz, You can make your own shampoo with castill.e using it as a base.

I'm surprised its so hard to find, its in keeping with the Swiss environmental and animal care attitudes.

ps. I also looked at making your own soap from scratch. The lady in the video series is very detailed, step by step, I didnt get the impression you had to wait except in one of her videos for the hard soap.

Here is another one a little bit different but you may like it.

homemade laundry detergent

I settled on Ecover in the end, also has the PETA leaping bunny so no animals were harmed in its making.
