New in town and want to know how to find registered babysitters in Winterthur ZH?
I visited my local Germinde and was told they dont have a list, which i thought was odd because i was told by many people that's where to go....I'm a bit stuck now for what to do, any suggestions would be welcome.
It's a pity you didn't put your locality in the title of your Thread - it always helps to get the right people's eye.
Maybe you could define what you mean by 'babysitter'. I'm not splitting hairs, but in my youth 'babysitter' meant someone (perhaps a teenager as FriendlyKiwi says) who, for small payment (and access to the fridge!!) looked after smaller children who were usually in bed and often asleep. These days the word is sometimes used as a synomym for Nannie, Child Minder, Mother's help.
The Parish might have a list of the latter and I believe the Red Cross does a course for young girls (and lads?) interested in babysitting (evenings) and could have list of youngsters who have 'qualified'.
If you don't have any luck there, try Googling something like 'Mutterverein', 'Familienverein' and the name of the place you will be living in. This might bring some information up. Good luck in the search.
my daughter is available for babysitting, she is 16 and was going to start a childcare course at college before we moved to CH. she speaks english and a little german and currently attends language school
we live in dachsen which is on the direct trainline to winterthur, if you are interested, let me know.
I was a bit disappointed to see that you had been on-line but had not reacted to my request for a definition of ‘Babysitter’ in my previous post. It really makes it a lot easier for people to help if more information is forthcoming. Judging by the other answers and links given, I may not be the only one for whom your question is unclear.
I just joined a babysitting/nanny agency called care4kids in Zürich, I am not sure if they do Wintherthur but it's worth a shot.
They have nannies and babysitters according to your preference. Being a nanny/babysitter myself at the agency they have a brilliant 90 minute interview with prospective nannies/babysitters and all references are checked! So you can be sure to get a qualified nanny/babysitter.
Have a look at their website it might interest you:
I'd also really like to find a casual baby-sitter and I am wondering if it's possible to find an adult who'll take 15 CHF an hour, what do you guys think?
An adult doing this job as a profession - unlikely.
But maybe a friend / neighbour / fellow parent from school - maybe. But you'll have to ask them directly
Consider running a "babysitting club" where like-minded parents offer each other babysitting duties. The idea is that all do the same amount of babysitting for each other. And someone keeps a book of who's done what for whom.
We did this in NZ, was very successful, and great for socialising.
Im an experience chidlcarer in the villeneuve, montreux vevey area and would be happy to baby sit most evenings. Would be happy to provide CV and refernces!
