Where is the best place (cheapest) to buy a laptop in Switzerland???

grammar police arrived!

That's right. I don't know about the German part, but I have tried InterDiscount and MediaMarket in Lausanne, Geneva and neuchatel, and find out that with some extra, they switch the OS from French to English, but keyboard, no way.

We can order the machines directly from suppliers with different keyboards if anyone is interested. Older machines keyboards are harder to find but can sometimes be located on ebay. They are not easily changed on some, but that is a possibility.

If someone (Interdiscount, etc) offer to change the language for you, be sure it is legitimate software on the original disk or you may have problems with activating it online.

interesting news for you XPS fanboys : delivery issues (shite paint)

that is all ... carry on

more like "delivery issues, build quality, nothing lines up, wrong configuration"

Nice tip thank you. But OUCH!

Hi All,

great guys. I think we all have pretty good experience in using laptops.

So From the discussion I guess, one would have to spend around 1500 CHF to buy a decent laptop. and I got a mail from dell customer support that the AMD is also good and allmost equal in performance to Intel

So Acer Travelmate with 17", AMD processor, 1 or 2 GB mem, 120 GB disk space and also a good graphics chip, must satisfy the requirements I mentioned.

Did anyone look at the model I m mntioneing

Hi guys,

Maybe surprising, but I actually bought at Manor a Toshiba Satellite A100-018 for SFR 1000 a couple of weeks ago. If you can still get it for that price, highly recommended.

Hey guys,

what would it cost me for the following configuration notebook

2 GHz Intel Centrino Duo Processor

2 GB DDRII Memory 677 Mhz

512 MB Geforce NVIDIA 8600 Graphics card

250 GB Diskspace

1.3 Megapixel integrated Cam

Gigabit ethernet

Wireless lan

Bluetooth

5 in 1 card reader

DVD DL burner

inbuilt 2 stereo speakers with a subwoofer and virtual dolby surround

Windows Vista Home English

Do you need a docking station for the space shuttle and an inflight refueling port to go with the inbuilt subwoofer?

what does that mean?

Have you checked if a laptop with such high specifications is even in existance? Should it be available this is a build to order-configuration for sure.

Have you completely abandoned your 1500 Fr. budget now, because such a laptop is going to cost you much, much more? Notebook components cost more, sometimes much more than desktop equivalents.

Also you won't find a subwoofer even in a 17" laptop, physically impossible... Maybe there are some laptops with two speakers and a "mid-woofer", not sure.

What about this one from Digitec:

It's almost 1000 francs more than your budget though.

I'm sorry to say this, but I don't think what you are searching is going to be much cheaper than ~2300 francs tbh.

Hey Guys,
