Hi someone told me there's a sandy area down there to bathe? Or recommend any areas i can go to?
I walked past the 'Public Baths' today, head south down the east side from Bellevue, it's where the yachts start getting moored and you can see the floating wooden Islands with people sunbathing on them... Entrance is right on the footpath. No sand though.
So you really want us to tell you where to go jump in a lake?
What you're looking for is Strandbad Mythenquai with 250 meters of sandy beach.

Yes!! I found it thanks very much, what a beautiful place, was down there on my lonesome, had a nice long swim, nice n safe too, least you dont have to worry about someone making off with your bag... hey im fresh off the boat from UK so im not sure what to expect
there's a pretty cool place near Uster, it's called Greifensee it's pretty great you can even rent small boats so yeah I'd say it's kinda cool.
If you are into nude bathing then Werdinsel by Höngg.
If not, then better avoid.
Not all of the island is for nude sunbathing (FKK), only the downstream end (farthest end from city).
The one mentioned is the "Mythenquai" actually the most beautiful one, however in the shadows of big trees and the Uetliberg relatively early.
The other one, a bit less practical in regard to swimming and no sandy areas, but (in good weather) sunlight until deep into the evening is the "Tiefenbrunnen" on the other side of the lake.
Nice and very practical, particularily in doubtful weather, is the "Utoquai" just some steps from the Bellevue. And quite a good swimming area. The premises themselves are however "Fin de siècle" and the establishment has lots of oldworldlyness charms.

This one is the "Utoquai". The wooden islands are known here as Floats/Floote The sunbathing areas of the place are on top of the four "cabin-structures", as well as between them. The restaurant there is quite good.
Brrrrrrrr you have my admiration. The lake is at only some 14 to 16 degrees centigrade at present. I generally wait until it is at least 18 to 19 degrees. Yesterday I was in that "Schwimmbad Letzigraben" (near the Letzigrund) where the water was 21° which is acceptable.
