Hi, so sorry. It's already been sold on. But I see that now there are more options in the stores. I didn't know about this Solis brand. You could probably ask that they order it for you if you don't see it in stores. Mine was really really huge. This one seems like quite usable size.
Thank you everyone for your ideas where to get a crock pot. When I get tired of ma's 1 liter crock pot, I will know how to get a bigger and better crockpot to magically appear.
Speaking of magical appearances after getting married, filthy ovens seem to magically appear after getting married. http://www.englishforum.ch/images/icons/icon11.gif When I was single I never cleaned an oven. Now of course american landlord laws are alot more liberal then swiss landlord laws. But I never looked at my ovens in American apartments before I moved out and American landlords never said anything to me about it. But now I look before I move out of swiss apartments. And I spend alot of time cleaning swiss ovens before I move out.
I suppose when you are married you bake more often so there is more sizzling, spewing, and spills.
We bought the Solis brand one at Media Market for 120 and we love it. We did however notice that they just added it to this years coop catalog, so if you have enough superpoints that would be good option.
This thread is so funny -- when I first came over last year I wanted a Crock Pot as well. It took me forever to explain to my other half what it was -- the look on his face was hysterical. Finally, after much searching, we found one in a shop near Banhoff Stadelhoffen in Zürich. We picked it up and I quickly introduced him to the wonders of slow cooking. Since then he's fallen in love with it. We had friends over for dinner the other night and they had to see it -- and now they are getting one.
Crockpots treat you to wonderful Chinese chicken herbal soups. In the morning, I used to just pop in a small black-skinned chicken (or free range itty-bitty chook), a few Chinese herbs/roots, dried longan (berries), elderberries, split dried dates, 1 tsp of soy sauce, 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste) and enough water to cover. Cook on low. By evening when you come home, you can sit down to steaming hot, flavourful soup and tender chicken that's falling off the bone.
I struggled to find a slow cooker in Switzerland and ended up buying it from John Lewis in the UK (along with other things). Their service is excellent and the VAT refund was enough to cover the shipping costs. only 8% to pay on this end. Don't know why more people don't do this.
