Where to buy a crockpot?

Does anyone have a crockpot (slowcooker)? I can't even seem to find one new, let alone used. If you have any information, please let me know.

Cheers!

I came to this thread because I mis-read the post .... So now I am useless to you ... Sorry , don't have any info on the crOckpot .

Hi Deck Hawk,

I have never been able to find one here, just not a Swiss thing I guess. Your best guess would either be a second hand from an expat, or maybe if planning a trip to the UK, bring one back with you.

Barbra.

The reason you can't find one is that the woman of the house should be at home watching the pot on the stove for the entire day, and such devices are therefore not required in Switzerland. This is only half in jest.

I was trying to explain the concept of a slow cooker to a Swiss friend who couldn't quite understand - "you mean you leave the food to cook the whole day?"

What you are looking for is called a Schongarer. You can buy them on ebay in Germany.

It's a Morphy Richards

Aahh true, keep forgetting I'm in the land of 1957.....(in some but not all aspects, before anyone groans me..). Then again, being a young, single, professional, it's amazing I even know where the stove is...

Barbra.

The stove is next to the packing-crate-on-a-stick that is your crap new hifi.

dave

And my, what a beautiful crate she is....and the sound.....simply spectacular.

True, who am I kidding...I never did know where the stove was, thanks for pointing it out Dave.

I found a brand new one at the Salvation Army store. Try the charity shops. I'm a bit far from you, otherwise I'd sell you mine. I've used it three times. Crockpot cooking is not really my thing.

since i can't seem to figure out how to post a new thread, I'll just try to ask my question here: Does anyone know if you can buy a crockpot in this country?

I haven't found one yet, they're available in the UK and Germany. We had the same question discussed here.

Barbra.

I don't know about shops but I would think they do have them. There are loads on EBAY DE

Yes - I've been enjoying pulled pork for a while now. Look on ebay. You may also find it on the UK amazon site.

The brand name gets you nowhere but a search for "slow cooker" does: Solis Online Shop - Is that the right product?

Cant do without our slow cooker, roast beef joint was put in yesterday morning before we did a mountain walk. Came back to do the veggies and bingo - sunday eveniong meal. Chilli con carni went it at 07:30 this morning, will be good tonight. We use it more in the winter than summer, but with a busy family and children it is a godsend. List of recipies can be found at http://southernfood.about.com/library/crock/blcpidx.htm Wish I had one when I was a student, would have eaten a damm site better.

oooh, I am excited about that Solis slow cooker! I have a lot of Solis products and they are great.

I will also order a cookbook -- here are some good ones. I hear "Not your Mother's Slow Cooker" is good.

The Swiss Post is doing an offer on the crockpot or slow cooker. Not cheap though, but perhaps good for people who have little free time. Link is as follows

Great for stews in the cold weather!

They have 2 sizes. The smaller one is about 50 CHF. I saw it there at the beginning of the year. You may want to call them first as when I last looked they only had 3 of them.

Are you too far from me? I have a General Abbonement. I took my mother's american crock pot away from her. We use it alot. Is your crock pot still available?

This is the first time I posted in a thread. I hope I did this right.
