May seem a silly question, but I'm having a nightmare finding a decent non-stick saucepan or cooking set. I want something exactly like this Tefal Essential set:
However, I can't find anything like them in any shop I've been to yet: Co-Op Home, Ottos, Conforama. I looked online, but sellers on neither Ebay or Amazon UK ship them to CH and the sets on Amazon DE are all the ones with two small side-handles, which I don't want.
Can anyone please tell me where the chuff I can get them?
There's a shop in the Designer Outlet Landquart (formerly Alpenrhein) that carries a wide range of Tefal products. It's an hour from Zurich, but hey, if you happen to be skiing in the region...
I bought a pan recently in Manor like that and they had sets. Have u tried there?
Hmm, actually no I haven't tried the department stores... I rarely ever go in them unless I go clothes shopping, so didn't think to check. I bet they cost an arm and a leg in there though if you buy them individually... probably 50chf a pan or more for a Tefal product. I'll check it out though, cheers!
Well I went in the sale and the sets were about 99 chf I think. I only needed one pan, of course the one which was not in the sale, which was about 50 or 60 chf, but it was a large wok pan.
Yeah take a trip in to Letzipark. they were having a sale on nonstick pans just a week or so ago...
Hmm, interesting. Which shop?
Ikea has some somewhat decent non-stick cookware, though certainly nothing as nice as Tefal. They're not sold in sets at Ikea, but I think many of their pans do have the same color/outer coating.
Just as an FYI -- I recently learned that, if you have a glass ceramic stove top, be sure to buy pans with a flat bottom so they heat evenly. (I guess a curved bottom surface won't do well on a glass-ceramic stove).
Anyways, if you can't find anything here that you like, you could try shopping online. Cooking.com has a lot of different sets and offers international shipping, though I'm not sure how expensive the shipping would be. Overstock.com is another site you could check out.
Tefal pans are available at Co-op City stores. I bought mine from there. There is one at Shilcity.
The IKEA ones are pretty nasty, coating comes off easily and the heat distribution isn't great. Certainly nowhere near Tefal quality.
Not for decent saucepans they don't... I was in there the other day to have a look.
Thanks for the links Prof, but sadly they don't have what I'm looking for with regards to the Saucepans.
I like Manor. They always have some stuff on sale.
Wait for the Spring sale.
Tefal is NOT good.
2 of my Tefal (induction) sucks big time. It takes a long time to heat up and often the cooker head cannot "sense" it.
I usually burn through 1 frying pan per 12 months. We are ultra careful but then all those "diamond" or titanium bullshit are just that. They are not scratch proof, even when we only use wooden or plastic utensils on them.
Therefore I suggest buying a relatively low cost one (say 50chf) for a pan and use it for 1 year and junk it.
Non-induction pans are easy to buy. Even Lidl or Aldi have some decent looking ones. Watch out for their brochures.
I like Lagostina, but they're not cheap.
However, their stainless steel stuff will last a lifetime, and are more non-stick than a non-stick pan that's been used a few times.

I would disagree with the "Tefal aren't good" statement, having used them in the past. Great cooking sets that are durable and cook very well.
Thanks, but I don't want stainless steel.
I bought one of those ceramic pans in Migros - half off, they're white inside and black outside. Usually I use my stainless, but for scrambeled eggs, they just don't do it. These can be used on any surface, and you can toss them in the dishwasher. And they really are non-stick.
They make non-stick as well, but really, all non-stick are crap.
Good stainless is practically non-stick.

I used a UK website when I had to replace all our pans after changing to an induction hob. You will get clobbered with the customs duties unless you have them delivered to Germany or France but it still worked out significantly cheaper than buying the equivalent here.
It was www.onestopcookshop.co.uk and they were very efficient.
Manor, as mentioned in one of the previous posts...
Thanks, but I have read all the arguments for stainless vs non-stick so it's nothing new to me. I'll stick (pun semi-coincidental) with non-stick for now.
I'll keep quiet about the plastic handles then...
