I find it funny than in CH most of the beds are king or queen size, but all the pillows I have found are tiny (usually 60 cm long). Does anyone know where can I buy big pillows in the Geneva area?
I am used to pillows which are as long as the bed, so no matter how much do you move in the bed your head is always on the pillow. I wake up sometimes with neck pain because of missing the pillow while sleeping
I have tried Ikea, Conforama and all the big stores in the area, without any luck.
I must say your request sounds a bit unusual in CH. The 'longest' pillow I know of is called a 'traversin' in French, and is only twice the length of a normal pillow. And even if you find what you want, I wouldn't know where you'd find a pillow-case for such a monster?!
Yes, it's weird here in CH isn't it? In Spain it's most common thing in the world! It's weird to see pillows less than 80 cm long. And in king size beds couples usually share the same long pillow.
I have googled "traversin" and it looks like a round thing, is that confortable? Doesn't look much like a pillow..
There are several kinds of traversin. The round thing you mention is for people who always sleep on their back, and thus place their pillow under their neck. Sounds terribly uncomfortable to me, but I guess some people like it
I'm pretty sure you can find a rectangular traversin in a big Coop.
I'm used to the local 'small' pillow, and I must say I wouldn't like it at all to share it with my partner... I'm very protective of MY pillow, as it allows me to sort of move with it when I move in my sleep.
I found one of those longer 'body pillows' in one of the bigger migros stores for about 25CHF it has its own plain white cover that you can remove to wash. This was in Aarau however, I couldn't say for sure if you can find them in all migros stores.
I bought my long pillow during the first day of my stays at the local COOP, I hate it though as it is made of a weird material that makes me itch even when I put it inside cotton covers
Having said that, I know that if you look in the COOP city and manor and even the globus you will find them
I saw some long pillows in Val Thoiry last Saturday, the sort that are about 50cms x the width of a double bed. I remember my parents having them and always thought they were very old-fashioned, this was the first time I'd seen them in a supermarket! Making a come-back perhaps?
Wow, thank you so much everyone for all the answers! I'll have to try Migros again, and the big Coop in Blandonnet.
Actually anything bigger than my current pillow would be ok. I have just measured it and is 54 cm long I bought it at Ikea, here in Geneva. They were all the same size. My bed is 160 and I can't use most of it because if I move, I miss the pillow...
