Where to buy baby furniture? [Zürich or Germany ?]

Hello All,

my wife is 5 months pregnant, so now's about the time to start thinking about baby furniture ! We looked on internet for shops in Zürich-area and generally find the choice a bit limited, prices very high and the designs old-fashioned. We are now considering to have a look just across the border in Germany (eg Waldshut, Tiengen, Singen or Konstanz).

Does anyone have experience with buying baby room furniture in Germany, or tips? Thank you for any responses. Vince

We bought ours from babywaltz in Germany it was expensive, but very good quality no problems in having it delivered, congrats on being pregnant.

I recommend Italy, near Milan there is this huge store called Bimbomarket.com or bimbomarket.it

They sell online to CH, you can visit them also if you want to get away for the weekend. Great huge huge selection, great prices...

If you are looking for a stroller with great everything take a look at the Chicco trio S. Has it all. Greatly recommended.

I have been to this shop,but didn't buy any furniture..But they have a large selection of kinderzimmer and its always crowded esply Saturday...

www.babyonlineshop.de is also a great German website. We ordered our Teutonia from them for half the price it would have been here in Switzerland (even including the tax we were charged for importing). They take off the German VAT (which is included in the quoted price) and then charge 55 Euros for delivery to Switzerland and we were very satisified with them. I think this website is definitely worth it if you are buying a lot of items or a couple expensive ones.

We bought our furniture online in germany http://www.kinderzimmer-haus.de/ . We bought the brand bopita and are very, very happy with it. They deliver to switzerland.

Just another perspective here, as a mother of two (soon to be three)-

Most baby furniture isn't really necessary, and you won't be using it for very long. My kids were climbing out of their cribs well before their second birthdays and squirmed off their changing tables well before that. Changing pads got moved to the floor and the table got disassembled within a year. We never had the heart to put the kids in a playpen, and got non-baby specific drawers, closets and bookshelves.

If you have the funds, great! But if you don't, just remember that you don't need much. A crib and a good high chair (easily cleaned) will do it. The rest doesn't need to be baby-specific.

It is tempting though-all those cute cute furniture displays...
