Are there places that sell cornmeal and jalapenos or habaneros in zurich? I have not been able to find these items yet here and am wondering if they are available somewhere.

I've seen them on the market in Oerlikon (on Saturdays) and sometimes in bigger COOP supermarkets (e.g. center eleven)...
There is a shop on the corner of Zürcherstrasse and Uitikonerstrasse in Schlieren that stocks jalopeno's. I cannot remember the name of the shop but it is on the corner and opposite the Lilie Zentrum and right next to the bus stop....
I go to El Maiz (the store) once or twice a month. They almost always have fresh jalapeños and Serrano chilies. But I don't recall ever seeing fresh habanero chilies. I have seen them in larger coop stores.
But you might check with them to see if they sell them online.
I have seen the canned jalapeños in the stores like coop and migros. Are you looking for fresh ones?

There are usually fresh Jalepenos and some dutch variety of Habernero thats similar in taste and heat in the large COOP in Oerlikon

I was in el maiz today and they had chilis that looked a lot like habanero/scotch bonnet, so i stand corrected.
One of the owners was telling us that if the import inspectors don't like the look of anything in the import batch, the burn the whole thing, so the most recent batch of chilis went up in smoke, as it were. Sad.

I bought a bag of corn meal ("maiz mehl" I believe it is, in German) in Denner recently. I used it to make polenta.
I've seen jars of jalapenos in the Mexican food section in the really large Coops.
Polenta, yes,, tortillas, NO.

I have found the maiz mehl in Coop and Migros. Great for making cornbread....you can try a dressed up version with cheddar cheese and jalapenos! Mmm...yum!
