Where to buy leg a lamb ?

I would love a cheap authentic Sri Lankan curry house. I used to frequenct East Ham in London and would love a fix. Speaking of East Ham, the price of meat is ridicoulous here compared to London... Any tips on where to buy an affordable leg of lamb??

Leg of lamb is available at a reasonable price from the french supermarkets if you choose to cross the border, I would say It's worth it. Click on search and find my post named ' I've just shopped at Mullhouse'

I have also discovered a Turkish butcher on the parade of shops in Cham which sells them too.

Hope this helps, sorry, don't know how to direct you to the thread via the clicky thing.

I'm sure there are many others on here that can recommend too.

In Zurich, The turkish grocery store in Josefstrasse sells beautiful legs of lamb for 18chf per kilogram...they have butchers on-site so if you want it cut into pieces small enough to fit in the oven or your casserole dish, they will offer to do that for you (in fact, they will probably cut it in half without being asked)...

Went to the Turkish butcher on the weekend to buy lamb. Finally a reasonably priced item Zurich! Very happy, made a nice sunday meal .

Also found the close by Sri Lankan spice shop. A successful afternoon out.

Remember that you can only bring a half kilo Auslands lamb over the border..

we go to france to buy all our meat. its alot cheaper and more to choose from. a leg of lamb will cost about 12 eurous.

If you are making a curry then you could use a cheaper cut like diced shoulder or even mutton (older lamb). These will both require slightly different treatment with the shoulder being a bit more gristled and the mutton requiring a longer cook time. Bon appetit

i always buy leg of lamb from migros - frozen and in the imported from NZ...
