Where to buy Lincoln Logs (or similar)?

For those who don't know what Lincoln Logs are, they are a kids "log cabin" type building pieces, see here:

http://www.knex.com/products/lincoln-logs/

I have some I brought from the US, but my kid has lost/broken most of them and I'm looking for some sort of replacement. I can order from the US, but shipping and import taxes make it kind of expensive, I was hoping to find something similar locally, but no luck so far.

Has anyone seen something like these in Switzerland? Maybe "Chalet Logs" or something?

Thanks!

I find kapla planks much more satisfying for some odd reason. See here:

I loved Lincoln Logs as a kid. I just looked on Amazon.de and found they want €100 for a classic set! All that stuff from my childhood I should have saved...

You can order them on Amazon.de. Probably also amazon.fr or amazon.co.uk, but I did not check the last two specifically.

Cheaper than those are raw hard wood floor panels. Just ask your local carpenter.

Also have a lookt at the Monod/Bea catalogue (Points can be found on productsa, such as washing powder, soups etc.)

An other source for wooden construction toys is Pastorini:

Not the cheapest source.

Thanks. Kapla looks interesting, but the pieces don't lock into each other the way Lincoln Logs do, so I'm afraid it's not as structurally sound But may be worth a shot anyway. There aren't any Swiss or EU made log-cabin type wooden toys?

Before trying these out in person I was skeptical too. The design and precision of the pieces actually adds quite a bit of unexpected stability. Its quite easy to build rather large, and stable, structures with them. And since there are no shapes to match up, you only need to ensure that each piece is balanced.

I guess it's worth a shot, I found a cheaper version of Kapla at Toys-R-Us:

I'd still be interested in log-cabin type stuff tho, if anyone can find one in CH or EU.

**edit**

Ah, found some on amazon.co.uk Well, actually the "branded" Lincoln Logs were insnaely priced, 90£ for a small box (!) But the "Frontier Logs" were still a bit expensive for some wood sticks, but a little more reasonably priced:

I guess Mr.Lincoln's great-great grand kids must be getting rich of his branded toys

I wouldn't have given them a second glance if our son hadn't been given some as a Christmas present one year but I have to agree with you, they are fantastic.

Our son made some amazing creations with them and found all sorts of other things to do with them too.

He liked the Lincoln logs when we were living in the states for a while but ultimately preferred the Kapla.

At Mondo you get a 350 pcs box for just CHF 34. Search for Hochstapler.
