Where to find fresh cranberries in Basel

Hello

We're trying to cook a thanksgiving meal. I was thinking that we could find fresh cranberries at the globus gourmessa store here in Basel. But when we checked last Saturday afternoon, they didn't have any. Anyone has an idea where in Basel (or closeby Germany or France) we would be able to find fresh cranberries? The previous years I have bought fresh cranberries at Globus in Zurich, but now that we live in Basel, I really don't want to drive all the way to Zurich just for 1 ingredient...

Thanks a lot,

Barbara

A couple of the larger Coops here in Zürich have them... don't know if the ones in Basel might as well. (If even Globus doesn't, the odds are against it - but couldn't hurt to check, right?)

Failing that, I'm planning a day trip to Basel this Saturday... Perhaps I could bring you some cranberries in exchange for a few tips on where to go, what to see, etc. Let me know if you're interested.

(Lest you get the wrong impression, I'm not one of the 30%...)

I have a feeling that Manor have fresh cranberries....I think I saw some this weekend, although it could have been wishful thinking

Barbara, you know there's a Globus in Basel, don't you??

migros has the fresh ones, even the small migros ones. they come in plastic bags from us (maybe from california). i saw them in the section where they sell hunting food.

Are you really talking about fresh cranberries...or perhaps frozen cranberries? Fresh cranberries do not grow in Europe. There are plants that are similar, but called mountain cranberries ...there season, however, is over for the year. If you are looking for frozen cranberries, then your best bet is to stick with the larger Migros or Coop in your area. I have seen them often at Coop...

good luck,

Jack

Thank you all a lot. I will check out Migros, Manor, and a large Coop.

I just saw them at the Claramarkt-Migros (Claraplatz).

thank you lala. after your post i immediately called migros, and once they told me that they indeed had cranberries, i immediately went and bought some before the store closed.

thank you all a lot.
