Where to find official trash bags in Basel

Hi all

As someone has posted, "bebbi sagg"s are available in Coop, Kiosk, IWB etc. I also got a welcome letter from my apartment that they are available in Manor and Migros. However, I checked in manor twice and Migros almost 5 branches including MMM, but they have no clue about where I can find the blue color bebbi sagg. In most places I simply got reply that they dont understand English. I could figure out that they are very expensive but I am sure they are not as expensive as a Ferarri, and I was hoping that at least I will be able to place an online order for them. But no luck! The All the 3 Coop, Manor and Migros websites are not in English and I absolutely have no luck in finding where the hell can I buy them. When I tried to check myself, I could easily find black bags marked "CLEVERBAGS Herkules" 35L and also another type which said "battery bags" - transparent ones, but absolutely no luck in finding the Bebbi Saggs. I wonder from where are people buying them that I see them every morning on streets in so much quantity. The last place I am thinking now is to go to the Kanton office and ask. Any help?

Ask at the checkout.

As Nathu said, you need to ask at the checkout. You can get them at nearly any grocery store.

You need to know what size you want, I'm not sure how big the little ones are but the middle are 35 liters and the big ones are 60.

And since you're new, ask for "Abfall sacke bitte, (give the size)". Probably isn't grammatically perfect, but it gets the job done.

You may sometimes find at the Coop they they are at the counter which sells spirits and cigarettes. Part of my usual Satuday annoyance is queing-up with the addicts.

Anyone know why they aren't simply on the supermarket shelf? I mean they are only about 20 CHF a roll so it's not like they are going to get nicked.

I asked. They do get stolen, apparently.

They're also available in Post Offices- its where I tend to get mine usually.

The small ones are 17 liters.

I can mine from Migros or Coop's Kundenservice. Migros in Basel SBB Bahnhof has them at the counter for chocolate and strange stuff.

Actually, yes, people stole them, that's why they are at the cashier!

Oups, just saw the answer....

ElieDeLeuze, I do not know how to thank you for this.. It worked like magic. Went straight to the chocolate counter and asked for bebbi saag and without any German or non-English word, I got them! BTW it costed me around 21 or 23 CHF, so it was much cheaper than I expected. If I meet you someday, I will buy you a chocolate for that Oh.. I am so relieved.

Oh yes, and by the way, those bags were pretty much hidden under the counter, so definitely not an easy find for a newbie.

Sorry, trash bag can only be found in Zurich.

Some towns have bags some have stickers but either way they can usually be found at the customer service desk or cig or choc counter or even ordinary check-out that sells ciggies.

They do get stolen I believe.

Still v helpful yeRs after the responses. Have npbeentearing my hair out looking for blue bags on the shelves. Now I guess I just have to practice my German a little.

THANKS!!
