Where to find quality frozen fish mix

Hello,

something I've never found here is a good quality fish mix, to make a sauce and make pasta with it. It is very common in Italy and easy to find fresh or frozen.

Here it's easy to find salmon and prawns. But I'm looking for something else: usually with squid, calamari, shrimp, mussels, clams and mixed shellfish.

Something like http://www.isaporideiricordi.com/wp-...ce-misto-4.JPG

I really don't think I will find it fresh here (meaning really fresh, not frozen and thawed). Do you know where to find good quality frozen one?

Aldi have something like that frozen. Although the shellfish are all already shelled.

You can also try here http://www.der-frisch-fisch.ch/site/...38&vsprache=DE , they have a lot of fish frozen and also fresh and the price are good, there are several shops around Zurich, so check it out...

Bettio, in the Seedam center in Pffafikon, SZ has a great range of squid, prawns and other shell fish either mixed or in separate packets.

I would have a look at the Aligro store as well (it is mainly for a professional clientele but you can get a free card to shop there via their website ). They have a very large and varied frozen food section.

Migros.

Also, Asian stores.

If you do not find it by yourself at any of the mentioned places ask for Frutti di Mare.

Another vote for Asian stores. They always have a large choice of frozen fish in stock, especially giant tiger prawns.

Some ideas from my local Coop (relatively small) and a Coop Hyper-market.

Not a bad selection - one more or less ready made mix and others with individual products.

Click on photos for a bit better view (hopefully they are large enough files).

More photos.

Thank you all ! I will try all your tips.

Aligro has an excellent choice of live, cooled and frozen seafood/fish!

This is the type of packaging we prefer to buy (photos in post #10). We often have several different packages in the freezer and take out small amounts of each item as needed.

We've found that most of the frozen mixes are not that great, probably because different seafoods require different cooking times. Invariably some bits are overdone and some under.

Of course we buy fresh whenever possible, even if the fishmonger replies with "You want 6 mussels and nothing else??"

Migros used to do a canned seafood selection, it's now moved to bottled in olive oil. Decent for risottos, although it has sathingycrabbla.

You could look in Aldi and Lidl too. I saw some Fruitti de Mer in one of them on Friday.
