My wife are really wanting to get a good (preferably American style) breakfast/brunch today (Sunday), but can't get out until around 17:00 or so. While brunch is quite popular in Zurich, I've noticed that most places only serve it till about 16:00. Any ideas? Thanks!
I don't know anywhere that serves breakfast that late. I guess the kitchens then switch to dinner prep.
Even 4pm sounds a bit optimistic.
This is Switzerland, where the timetable says the train leaves at 11:32, and it does. Breakfast is a morning matter. Period. It's not like the USA, where my favorite cafe in Michigan advertises "Breakfast All Day," and nobody gives me funny looks when I ask for a second cover to split the American sized (read: huuuge) omelette with my OH.
Check out Fork and Bottle,Brunau. Excellent brunch all day long, on Zurich city transport system, just call ahead for reservation. It' s an amazing location so it gets packed fast ( and have their lovely Hawai smoothie...blueberry bliss, and egg/guacamole/bean burito, hmmmm, and pancakes, and bacon and..)
I would second Fork and Bottle. Owned by an American. Great beer selection as well!
Fork & Bottle
Amazing ! I liked this place back in the 1980ies, 90ies and 2000s ... Then heard in about 2008, that the old owner had not found a successor and apparently simply had to give up ... heavily regretted by the dog owners who enjoyed the Allmend nearby
For me, working in Glattbrugg but living in Wollishofen / Adliswil it was a nice place on Saturday and Sunday to make a break
Suppose, I may give it another visit shortly
This won't do for 17:00 unfortunately, but Kafischnaps near Schaffhauserplatz serves brunch till 16:00 every day of the week!
Might be a bit late - and probably not what you're looking for, but Manor (on Bahnhoffstrasse) satisfied my need for a late breaky. Although note: 1) it is not a la carte, and 2) not sure if they have anything like American style eggs.
The difficulty is just finding an open place.
In sunday all is closed
Here a nice selection, and most places are open on Sunday
